$18.00 wings. 😳😳 $2.00 more of you want two different sauce flavors. Hey, Fareway is right next door and they have chicken wings on sale for $1.39 a pound. Check it out. My reuben was delicious. Fries nice. Popcorn always a nice touch. But, $18.00 wings?? Really??? For 12???

We stopped here after a recent men's basketball game with a group of 10 family members. As a lifelong Hawkeye fan, I'm glad I got to experience this place as a father. The decor brings back tons of great memories, and browsing through the retro team posters that adorn the walls is the perfect way to pas the time until your food arrives. The staff this particular night was young and not overly friendly, so it's a good thing the food was good. My kids loved their burgers and fries, and my Hayden Fry burger (angus patty, cheese, bacon and a fried egg between marble rye slices of bread) was unique and fantastic. Without a little upkeep, though (the carpet flooring is trash and the vinyl on ever chair at our table seemed to have holes in them), this place could go under. Sure hoping that doesn't happen because it's a staple.

For someone who has frequented this place often in the past - this place has turned into “iffy” anymore. Management has changed but it doesn’t seem for the better. Fun, personable staff have been replaced by those that seem aloof. Food does not to be as good as it once was.

A shame to see a great place go so far down hill. The bartender doesn’t know bar tending. We’ve always said their pork tenderloin is the best so you may have to wait to be acknowledged then wait even longer to place an order.

The food is good there for bar food but it is starting to get pricey. Last time we were there we kept having to flag down our waitress for refills and items. Their trivia night is awful. The guy running it took forever, and he messed up our score. We should have gotten second place and he gave our prize to another group, Please go with another trivia company!

We have been to Coaches Corner many times. In this area of Iowa City there is not another bar/grill within a mile or more in any direction, which makes it unique. Pro's: In the area it is located, it's the only choice. Like sports? Tons of memorabilia covers the walls. Lots of TVs, and I have never not been able to watch a game requested, the staff would find the right channel. Free popcorn! Good selection of craft beer. Acceptable drink and food prices. Outdoor seasonal seating area if you like that. Staff; never had a bad experience with any of the staff. They have always been inviting and friendly. Many local regular customers that are also friendly. Family friendly environment; this is not a rowdy, rough, or college age bar/grill. Two Golden Tee video game machines which are fun. So, for the Con's Some reviews mentioned it was too loud. I was there once and it was too loud because of the music volume. Just once. They had a live band that evening, and I believe it was the band's volume choice - not the Coaches Corner's volume choice. The volume was fine until the band started. The food. Food quality is very subjective. I have had some very good items here, and many others so-so or bad in my opinion. We have learned what to order based on our experiences and taste and just order what we have had success with. I can have a great meal there now knowing what I like and what to order, but I could understand if a group came in for the first time and had mixed feelings about the quality of the food; I believe some may really enjoy their item while others maybe disappointed with what they ordered. So, if you are coming here just for the food, depending on your tastes and what you order, you might be very happy or very disappointed. If you are looking for a place to relax, or watch a game, or have a drink, maybe talk to locals and staff, and be willing to try the food and see what you like and don't like, I think you will find this place enjoyable.

Hands down the worst experience i have ever had at any restaurant and/or bar and grill. I ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich with onion rings and my significant other and the Italian with sweet potato fries. We got a chicken sandwich with a half leaf of wilted lettuce and chicken so over cooked that it was virtually rubber (legit could not bite into). Halfway through my meal, i found i was eating a hair cooked into my onion ring, i had to stop eating. We never got the Italian, instead it was a french dip. Waitress was too nice to complain too, and was the only pleasant part of our experience aside from the Packers game. While finishing our meal, we watched the bartender accidentally spill cleaning solution into the lemon/lime bar, AND THAN SERVE IT. Waitress was the only reason we stuck it out, except near the end, despite 6 waitresses and 2 bartenders for a place that was not even half full, she never brought a bill, we had to ask the bartender. Not only do i get better service at McDonald's, ill be making a report to Health services and contacting the owner and or manager regarding food safety regulation.

Could not stay as was too loud for us to hear eachother.Too bad as we have enjoyed dining outside. Why not set aside an area without speakers for people who wish to talk!!?

Been to Coach's Corner several times and they are consistently solid. Clean, family friendly over the mealtimes. Food very good and always hot and on point. Taco pizza is best in the city and we would keep coming back for this even if everything else was lousy. Good selection of domestic and craft beers, and some common imports. Full bar, as well. Best things about the place: 1. The owner is present, part of the community, and repeatedly supports local charitable causes. This fact is important in my choice. 2. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming, even for the non-regulars.

Stopped in for a few drinks before a Hawkeye game and after. Lots of the visiting fans were here. The owner welcomes everyone. The food was above average and the pizza was surprisingly very good. Will be back

Great Food! Great atmopshere! Best sports bar I have Been in, in this area by far! The only place to really watch a game and have fun! You can tell the owners know what they are doing! Clever specials, always so much fun for Iowa games! They care about the customers, always see who we think is the owner checking on tables and keeping the somewhat very young college student staff on point, unlike most places in this college comunity! Great place!

We live two blocks from this local corner sports bar and have eaten there many times. This is one of those places with tv's all over the place, literally 15+ screens in the place, all showing live sporting events. The servers are very friendly and the menu is extensive but not boiler-plate: the burgers, sandwiches, salads, wings, other specialties, and pizzas include creative options you might not find elsewhere. And the food is tasty. The pizza is thin-crust, cut in squares, and won't fill you up will dough-gut. The burgers are thick and juicy, the wings come in a variety of flavors (I like the honey BBQ), and the entree salads are big and fresh (my wife and I prefer the grilled chicken and veggie salad). But eating here can have an equal number of down sides. The place is almost always really loud even when the Hawkeyes aren't on tv. I don't know if the noise carries or is amplified somehow but if you sit there for an hour or two you will know what I mean. Also the bill often seems to come to a larger total than expected--not due to trickery or what seem to be high prices on the menu--it just ends up being notably more expensive than other family meals at similar places in our experience. Plus sometimes the food can take much longer to arrive than it should--and not necessarily because they are jam-packed busy. So...overall a 3 star review from this frequent customer. Our solution is to carry-out much more often than eating in, or in the nice weather seasons to sit on the very pleasant patio outdoors.

I have been here a couple times. The staff is always courteous. The drinks are cold, and the food is hot. The burgers are very good. The pizza is pretty good too.
