My favorite Italian restaurant in Iowa City, this small Bistro with just two rows of tables and booths requires reservations most nights. Food is unique, wine list is huge, and I've been pleased with every dinner.
I am still thinking about the pasta they served here! Even our son's spaghetti with meatballs dish was amazing- the sauce/noodles were incredibly flavorful. I had a delicious ravioli dish while my husband had the salmon. It is a small/intimate venue. I haven't had pasta...More
Small intimate restaurant. Very good authentic cuisine. Insalata polpito...octopus perfect and the warm potato and carrots was perfect with the pesto vinaigrette...fettuccine maiale e porcini (pork and porcini mushrooms) in a Parmesan cream sauce. Delicious meal

Given the chef/owner's background, I expected more from this restaurant. The Carpaccio was bland and overdressed. It was swimming in oil. The Swordfish Crudo was extremely fishy and overdressed. Three of us ordered their Agnolotti and to say the dishes were inconsistent is an understatement....More
My wife, daughter, and I, visited for lunch on August 29th. This was my 2nd visit to Baroncini, with this being my first lunch visit. It wont be my last lunch visit either. We all took advantage of the $10 2 course lunch menu. I...More
The food here is delicious and filling. If you leave hungry, that was a choice. While I appreciate the drinks at the beginning of the meal, there is no need to push alcohol on your patrons. Have an alcohol alternative.
I try to delay my reviews when I have bad experiences to allow things to settle a little and provide a the best review as I can and, in general, I do not write really bad reviews. In this case, even after months, I still...More
