I have eaten here twice and the food was wonderful both times. I also really enjoyed that there was more than one or two entrees without mushrooms to choose from. It seems like that is becoming rare, and I know I can ask them to be removed, but it's nice to have options that don't require holes or substitutions.. The... More

My daughter and I had a great lunch here. It has a polished yet relaxed atmosphere. Service was excellent. We both had the Capellini AI Frutti DI Mare which is the seafood pasta and a great bottle of red wine. Their wine list is very extensive. They gladly substituted the the capellini for tagliolina pasta for my daughter's dish. We... More

I love Italians. Especially a nice authentic place. The smaller the better I like it. They make fresh pasta daily and they know how to cook it perfectly. Most places don't cook it al dente!! Nice place!!

Baroncini is an unexpected Italian treasure in college town, Iowa City. Pastas are perfectly prepared to order. The setting is quaint and conversation friendly. Service was right on target with knowledgeable waitstaff. While there was a wait to receive entrees , it was largely because everything is made to order so no overcooked pasta.

For my main course I had scallopine bianco, thinking a pork dish in Iowa would have to be good, but the meat was tasteless and rubbery and the sauce indifferent. The tiramisu dessert was good, however, with a combination of several different chocolate flavors and textures

We had a wonderful Italian meal last evening. The service was spot on! We had the carpaccio, two amazing pastas and the swordfish and pork scaloppini. All were excellent. It was a hopping place and we look forward to our next visit! Wine list was very good and not over priced.

This restaurant is one of the true gems of Iowa City's cuisine scene. The Chef/Owner is one of the good guys in the restaurant world. He's devoted to authentic Italian food, prepared and served in a special way. He's a nice guy that checks on his customers and cares about the product he puts out. This attitude is also seen... This is the best Italian restaurant around-authentic north Italian food-great food coupled with good service-very welcoming owner/chef John always comes around to enquire about the food! Only negative is the small cramped space!

Have been to Baroncini's twice, both times our table was visited by the owner to assure our satisfaction - the owner was making contact with all the tables each time - impressive attention to service! And indeed the service was very good. The food also very good- last visit had a pleasant seafood dish, dining partner had a rabbit dish... More

The place is SMALL, we had 6 adults jammed into a booth and we had reservations. Our server took 20 minutes to bring wine, another 25 minutes to take our order, and in total a simple evening meal took almost 3 hours and that included begging for the bill. As in common in most Iowa City places, the clientele were... More
