Stopped in for a quick dinner during our road trip. Good middle eastern food. You order at the counter and they bring the stuff to you. A bit pricey ($10 for a chicken/falafel pita) and no wifi??

Dear Stu, Thank you for visiting Oasis Falafel during your road trip to Iowa City. Lots of thanks for taking the time writing a review. As an owner, those reviews are valuable. I just wanted to comment that the price of our Chicken / Falafel pita is $7.95 (+ 6% Sales Tax) and not $10 as you stated in your... More

3 of us arrived around 5:30 pm. It was not too busy. We placed our orders and took a table at the back of Oasis. I ordered the Kebab Plate. I had the Chicken Shawarma, and Gyro for my meats. Sides were French fries and Mediterranean salad. It took a really, really long time to get our meals. Not a... More

Seriously, I have tried hummus everywhere and this is best. When we travel anywhere, friends request this hummus. We pack in ice and bring it. Rest of their food great but hummus amazing.

I just carried out the hummus and now that I am back home I am dying for more. Take a cooler and stock up. It's worth it

Have eaten here a few times on my travels to Iowa City. Always tasty and quick service. I usually have some version of the gyro, and the sides are hard to choose between, as there are many great ones. The Mediterranean salad is a favorite of mine.

We stopped in for lunch on Saturday. We ordered a gyro and sultan's plate to share. This is a really great way to sample Oasis. The plate allows you to choose four sides. We had hummus, falafel, tabbouleh and madjadra. All were great. When you eat in-house, there is a condiment bar that includes cabbage and sauces. The menu is... More

Small friendly restaurant with limited seating, but lots of people come in for carry-out. The food was very good. The shawarma I had was huge. Two could share it and have plenty for a small lunch. The prices are very reasonable for what you get.

This is not the place for a date or a fancy dinner. It is the place for great Eastern food served without fuss. The chicken shawarma pitta sandwich was delicious, blacked crusted chicken that expressed its marinade. And bonus points for self serve pickled chillies!

Saw some good reviews of this place and it lived up to the hype. A variety of options to choose from and all good prices. They had great falafel and chicken schwarma. Lots of other good stuff as well. Definitely worth checking this place out

Owners and friends Naftaly Stramer and Ofer Sivan created Oasis the Falafel Joint in the summer of 2004. After meeting for lunch in downtown Iowa City the duo lamented that (at the time) falafel was nowhere to be found, and vowed to right this wrong. Naftaly had just left the tech industry and Ofer had just completed his degree in engineering – an unlikely starting place for what would become the world’s best hummus, falafel and fries.
