Our dining experience was adequate. The food was ok . Our server got our orders correct despite knowing very little. After our meal we went out on the patio by the fire for a cocktail. Our server out there was so fun! His fast wit and hilarious comments had us all laughing. It made our visit here worth it!

Typical breakfast buffet but still decent.

We ate here the other day for morning breakfast. Thankfully it wasn't busy since there was only one server for few people eating. I had the buffet while my wife ordered from the menu. It was your typical hotel food, warm, filling but nothing note worthy.

Disappointing Breakfast for IHG Property

The restaurant doubles as the Holiday Inn breakfast stand in, and it was a major disappointment. The breakfast buffet is exactly what you would get at 75% of the IHG properties for free, but here they charge $14.95 per adult. Kids eat free in the special advertisement, but it is literally everything you would find for free at other Holiday Inn properties. Pros: On site and kids eat free. Guardian of the Galaxy soundtrack for breakfast. Cons: Buffett is heated by camping fuel tins, I’ve had hotter field mess in Okinawa. Cold, sausages and hash browns raw in the middle. You are paying $14.95 for what is included at most IHG properties. Neutral: Waitress service. Overall, I would recommend going elsewhere despite the convenience of being on site. Not a family friendly environment.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am sure you have stayed at many other IHG properties that include breakfast, however at all Holiday Inn Restaurants, breakfast is not automatically included with your rate. If you do find that you are back at the Holiday Inn in the future, we would recommend booking our Best Break Rate which does include breakfast for two. I do hope that we get a chance to serve you in the future.

Sat down for 10 min and no one greeted us. Talked to us. Dirty tables everywhere. Walked right past us multiple times. Terrible.

Diarrhea

My partner and I had lunch yesterday. Service was horrible. Ordered buffalo wings and got BBQ wings. Took forever to get our food. 3 hours after we left we both had severe stomach cramps and major diarrhea. Will never go back!

Do not get the Breakfast Buffet

We stayed at the hotel, we got a coupon to use at the restaurant for breakfast. It covered the cost of the buffet, or you can order off the menu. We walked in, we were offered the buffet, we accepted without looking it over. It was much lower quality than what is normally offered as a complementary breakfast in a mid price hotel like this Holiday Inn. The OJ was warm, the eggs were very powdered, no bread, bagels or toaster. The sausages and bacon was good. Coffee was decent also. After the fact we checked out the menu, most of the other guests ordered off the menu, their food looked good and was covered by the voucher. That would have been the better way to go, live and learn.

We ordered off the menu, the food was great and the breakfast server was awesome! She took the time to visit and answered all our questions about the property and the area. A true asset to the hotel. She said she had been serving for 40 years! Wow, great lady!

Excellent Breakfast

I was going to visit another location for breakfast but they were packed so I stopped by River Rock in the Holiday Inn downtown Dubuque. Though somewhat busy I was seated right away. I ordered two eggs scrambled, potato hash, and bacon. Food came timely and it was hot when placed in front of me. Potatoes were not greasy as they seemed to be baked, very nice. Eggs were plentiful (likely more than two) and bacon was crisp without burnt. All had a nice flavor. Service was pleasant and there when needed but didn’t hover. I’ll go back when looking for breakfast out in town.

I normally travel around the country on business, this was a getaway quick trip, this is a super hotel bar that has really tasty burgers and great staff. The hotel and restaurant stack up with any of the nice Holiday Inns I have stayed at over the years. I work close by and always send my clients here to stay as well, and a great bar to entertain them in.

New menu not for us!

We have been dining at the various restaurants at this location for many years but will not be back! Menu has no real entrees anymore. It's strictly bar food now which is not what we want. I feel sorry for the very personable and efficient wait staff having to deal with people like us who want a real meal, not a hamburger or a chicken sandwich. We talked to the manager a month or so ago and he said he'd see what he could do. What he did apparently was take off what few entrees remained then. There are a lot of nice dining places in the area. We won't be back to this one.

I am the person you spoke with on your last visit. As I said when I responded to your Facebook review, I am truly sorry we can't hang on to more entrees. I did my best as we still have our Sirloin, our Hawaiian Salmon and Parmesan chicken and Rice. I understand you are not a fan of hamburgers, because ours certainly are great. Hopefully, we can have you back for an appetizer at some point and I will let you sample one on the house. Otherwise, we sure will miss you.

Excellent Relaxing Evening

Located inside the Holiday Inn in downtown Dubuque, this restaurant is very convenient to those staying in the hotel. It is also very clean and nicely decorated with TV's throughout. As guests of the hotel and just coming in from a day of hiking and sight seeing (8pm on a Saturday night) we were ready for some light fare and a few beverages. The place wasn't that busy at all and we seated ourselves in a comfortable booth. We were greeted by our server Elaina, who stated she was new here at the River Rock. My wife ordered a Malibu Bay Breeze, which she said was perfect. I imbibed in the local craft beers, which I enjoyed very much. Hot Wings and Iowa Cheese Curds were our appetizers of choice for the evening. Both items were brought out in a reasonable amount of time. The Wings tasted excellent and hit the spot. The Cheese Curds were very good. And all the while, Elaina, with her delightful smile and personality, saw to it that we had whatever we needed to make our experience enjoyable. We also enjoyed chatting with Jason, the manager, who took the time out to share with us some of his experiences and to make sure things were going well. Knowing that I was able to just walk to my room after a few drinks in the River Rock was a bonus within itself. Add to that good food and friendly staff and there was no need for me to go to a casino. I hit the Jackpot here. Thanks again Elaina. Your service to us that night was greatly appreciated.

Not impressed with bones

Had dinner, fish and onion rings. Bring out the food the fish had bones in it. Broke the onion ring open to have grease run out of it. Told the barkeep and either she or her boss says, yes we order and supposed to be bone free, but we have been having problems lately with our vendor. Why are you still serving it? AC doesn’t work right, might as have been sitting outside.
