Brazen has developed through the years to a 5 star destination. Their meals are creative, unique and feature the freshest ingredients. Items are sourced locally and prepared and served in a relaxed manner with upscale tastes. The bar offers a quality wine list and craft cocktails. Try their rye Manhattan. The chicken is some of the best I have eaten. Highly recommended. Vegetarian meatballs had great flavor.

I diligently read reviews before visiting and scoured their web site and menu. The wine list is not posted on their site so I emailed and got them to send me one. Nice array of wines all fairly priced. Atmosphere is industrial and simple and clean. Creative drinks. The squash tonkatsu with fish sauce caramel was a WOW and perhaps my favorite item and not one I would have ordered if it didn't have the fish sauce twist. I also had the octopus which was absolutely cooked perfectly but the sauce was so heavy on their house-made chorizo in the sauce it was overpowering, still great but that element could have been toned down. The quality of the octopus made up for it and I'd order it again. The pizza crust was superb but I'm not a pizza guy generally so discount my take on that item. The fried chicken was truly good. The date cake with toffee for desert was a re-order item definitely. I was really surprised for an early, snowy, wintery Wednesday evening how busy the place was. I will definitely return.

We visited Brazen as the COVID numbers are beginning to spike again in Dubuque and all of Iowa. We had been told that Brazen is following the spirit as well as the letter of responsible behavior during the pandemic. Tables have been removed to socially distance guests and servers wear both face masks and gloves as does the kitchen staff. Staff temperatures are taken at the beginning of their shift. Guests are required to wear masks upon entering. The food was fabulous - as usual. We started with the outrageously delicious Pork Belly, crispy, rich, unctuous pork belly, with fermented cabbage, my new favorite small bite, replacing the perennial favorite, duck tacos. One of us had the Butter Poached Halibut, perfectly cooked halibut with green pea risotto and frizzled leeks and the other the Prime Burger, a mammoth burger made from prime beef ground a la minut. Our server, Renee, was knowledgeable and attentive while maintaining social distancing. All in all, a delicious diversion during trying times.

My wife and I just went there last night for Valentine’s Day and we ordered the Chefs Tasting Menu along with the wine pairings. Now this is my first review I’ve ever written but I felt compelled to do so because this was the best food experience I have ever had. The waiters were very friendly and helpful, the food came out fairly quick. Each course tasted better than the previous one. And each time we were blown away by how amazing the food was. 10/10 would go there again. Very easy 5 stars to give.

10/10 would recommend to anyone coming to Dubuque or current residents of the Tri State area. If you live nearby and you haven't tried Brazen you are missing out! Though pricey, I always say you get what you pay for! The service, atmosphere, quality of food and drink is outstanding. My husband and I went for dinner recently because I saw on social media they posted about an updated menu. If you don't know from the name, Brazen is a scratch kitchen meaning everything is fresh and seasonal. They tend to tweak the menu with the season which I always appreciate something new for my favorite dish - the salmon. It's by far my favorite place to order salmon it's cooked to perfection and melts apart. I've never had anything that beats it. The ginger broth and cucumber noodles pair tastefully. My husband ordered the beef ribeye another fan favorite if you eat red meat. Brazen has options for vegans and vegetarians as well and cook to order when asked, so don't be afraid to ask about other dietary options you may have. Our favorite appetizer is the leek fondue, but the duck tacos and gnocchi are good too.

What place accommodates every whim and need of mine and yours? I am normally someone who eats Cereal, Pizza, and some other garbage. Even though this is true I loved my time. I had the pizza and after eating that I considered eating everything else my family wanted. The verbose variety of flavours made me fall in love. We ordered all the deserts. We then ordered them again. Normally I hate cheesecake, turns out I’m now quite the fan. 5/5, me and my family now rate everything on a scale of 1 to Brazen. Additionally I think we all became gay for our waiter since he was so nice. He was actually great at his job and we loved how he presented the food. This is no joke, this place is my favourite restraint ever and I wish we could keep going there every day.

Best Steak in Town from Millwork Top Chef. With a famous chef, and stunning downtown Millwork decor, the food is even better. They have no freezer, everything is fresh and local. I believe their ribeye steak is the best steak in the tri-state area, where there are a lot of great steak places. They also always have delicious vegetarian options. Their Sunday brunch is awesome with a whole different menu that includes their famous homemade pop tarts, which everyone should try. The prices are on the steep side for the area but the place is worth a splurge.

My husband I celebrated his birthday here last night. I am currently pregnant and have been really discouraged eating out since COVID. Brazen is definitely doing things right! Not only is their food AMAZING—fresh, local, perfect flavor...their staff has been trained well on proper protocol during this COVID season. You can tell everyone is on the same page and they haven’t sacrificed quality and a great atmosphere while still implementing extra safety measures.

Hands down one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always fresh, the menu always offers great seasonal offerings and the staff is out of this world. We travel to Dubuque every few months with the sole purpose to eat at Brazen and their seasonal menu. It’s a 3 hour journey and well with it. Don’t be afraid to try things out of your comfort zone and ask the server for recommendations, they always are willing to give you good options for ordering.

What a find. Who would think such a conscientious restaurant restaurant would be in the heart of the mill works area of Dubuque. Location: super cool and easy to park Restaurant: decor is clean, cool and fun. Love how they renovated the old window factory Kitchen: can see right into kitchen, all the chefs busy at every detail. I think I counted 5 of them working on different things one at a time We sat outdoors, they even had music for us outdoor diners. Was absolutely interesting to sit, eat and look at the architecture of the buildings, notice differences in brick, etc. plus an art class was going on so there were a number of artists sitting outdoor all drawing one thing or another Food: AMAZING. Loved the pizza and the chicken Fresh. This restaurant does not have a freezer so everything is fresh Tasted so good, just enough cheese and the sausage was the right bit of spicy spread over the pizza. Experience in both dining, flavor, views and all else

We just arrived and looking for a nice meal, the menu caught my eye and though we tried to book on line, there were no available seating. We decided to take a chance and drive out there after checking into our hotel.... Luck would have it that we were able to snag a table outside. We really liked the Explore section of their menu so we decided to do aur own tasting menu. John our waiter was great! He suggested that he will break it up into courses so we wouldnt be overwhelmed. He started us with the fresh tomatoe salad (I love tomatoes and it's in season why not!) with fresh baked bread, then we got duck confit wrap and peach glazed ribs, and shared a pasta dish. As a final course we got their cheesecake. We were absolutely gobsmacked how well the kitchen put together delicious pieces of artwork! Highly recommend!

This restaurant made our anniversary dinner so special. The cocktail, pandemic blue, was amazing. The salmon and the fried chicken were so delicious and the cheesecake for our anniversary was the delicious ending to a perfect dinner. But what made the dinner was our waitress, Abby. She is such an asset to this restaurant!!

What a remarkable restaurant. Just superb and innovative cooking in a delightful venue. To start off with, the Old Fashioned with orange bitters is a revelation. The cold sweet corn soup is fantastic, rich but not too much so, and eminently satisfying. I've always loved gnocchi but rarely had it as magically presented - the spinach, cherry tomato and mushroom sauce with lemon and pecorino was sublime. My wife enjoyed a substantial, wonderfully sweet crab cake and a lovely Brazen salad, as perfect a pairing as can be imagined, We can't wait to try all the things on the menu we didn't get to on this first visit. Bravo!

This is a surprisingly great restaurant in Dubuque. I say surprisingly since there did not appear to be a big restaurant scene in the city. But this place is top notch and could hold its own in any big city. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. It's in an old warehouse of some sort with 15 foot ceilings and brick walls. We sat near the open kitchen and could see the cooks preparing food which was fun as well. Drinks were also spot on.
