I've been a few times now and highly recommend it! A great find. Space is renovated warehouse in the Millwork District of Dubuque which is neat to walk around. Every single thing I've ordered, and our table ordered, at Brazen has been "totally worth it"....Worth every calorie, every cent. The service has been good as well. I'm very grateful for the tasty food and drink, thank you!More

10/10 would recommend to anyone coming to Dubuque or current residents of the Tri State area. If you live nearby and you haven't tried Brazen you are missing out! Though pricey, I always say you get what you pay for! The service, atmosphere, quality of...food and drink is outstanding. My husband and I went for dinner recently because I saw on social media they posted about an updated menu. If you don't know from the name, Brazen is a scratch kitchen meaning everything is fresh and seasonal. They tend to tweak the menu with the season which I always appreciate something new for my favorite dish - the salmon. It's by far my favorite place to order salmon it's cooked to perfection and melts apart. I've never had anything that beats it. The ginger broth and cucumber noodles pair tastefully. My husband ordered the beef ribeye another fan favorite if you eat red meat. Brazen has options for vegans and vegetarians as well and cook to order when asked, so don't be afraid to ask about other dietary options you may have. Our favorite appetizer is the leek fondue, but the duck tacos and gnocchi are good too.More

This warehouse-turned-chic dining space has a great feel to it, with high ceilings, expansive brick walls, interesting passageways and well-designed seating. The crowd was Dubuque-chic. All was ready to be impressive. But it was not impressive. The menu selection is diminutive, which is oftentimes fine...as it should mean that every item on the limited menu is there because the kitchen does a fabulous job with it - not the case here! We shared an adequate salad to start and then one had the soba noodle soup while the other had the chicken roulade. The soup was liked, with an appealing look to it and flavorful ingredients. The chicken roulade, on the other hand, was barely edible. While well constructed (a pork (?) mousse rolled inside chicken breast medallions sitting astride a while bean cassoulet), it was not palatable at all - the beans were undercooked and had a very odd taste, the chicken was flavorless and the mousse was a horrendous combination with the chicken - absolutely terrible. The other elements of the cassoulet were somewhat better, but perhaps only by comparison to the inedible rest of the dish. I almost never leave a restaurant dish other than clean, but could only make it through about one-third of this - with the last two bites just because I did not want to make my companion think I did not like the meal, but ultimately I just could not keep digging deep enough to eat this. The rating here is 4 stars, which sounds generous given what I say above about the food, but this reflects the very appealing atmosphere, effort to present high quality food in Dubuque and the (not-formal) service. And, who knows, perhaps that one dish is just an outlier on an otherwise superb menu. On the other hand, I will not be returning to find out.More

What place accommodates every whim and need of mine and yours? I am normally someone who eats Cereal, Pizza, and some other garbage. Even though this is true I loved my time. I had the pizza and after eating that I considered eating everything else...my family wanted. The verbose variety of flavours made me fall in love. We ordered all the deserts. We then ordered them again. Normally I hate cheesecake, turns out I’m now quite the fan. 5/5, me and my family now rate everything on a scale of 1 to Brazen. Additionally I think we all became gay for our waiter since he was so nice. He was actually great at his job and we loved how he presented the food. This is no joke, this place is my favourite restraint ever and I wish we could keep going there every day.More

What a remarkable restaurant. Just superb and innovative cooking in a delightful venue. To start off with, the Old Fashioned with orange bitters is a revelation. The cold sweet corn soup is fantastic, rich but not too much so, and eminently satisfying. I've always loved...gnocchi but rarely had it as magically presented - the spinach, cherry tomato and mushroom sauce with lemon and pecorino was sublime. My wife enjoyed a substantial, wonderfully sweet crab cake and a lovely Brazen salad, as perfect a pairing as can be imagined, We can't wait to try all the things on the menu we didn't get to on this first visit. Bravo!More

My husband I celebrated his birthday here last night. I am currently pregnant and have been really discouraged eating out since COVID. Brazen is definitely doing things right! Not only is their food AMAZING—fresh, local, perfect flavor...their staff has been trained well on proper protocol...during this COVID season. You can tell everyone is on the same page and they haven’t sacrificed quality and a great atmosphere while still implementing extra safety measures.More

Wonderful historic setting and awesome food and wine list. They were very accommodating for special requests. Gnocchi, featured salad and the pizza we had were all fabulous along with wine and martini. They have clear COVID safety precautions in place. All employees were wearing masks....They have a lovely outdoor seating area. A perfect summer evening.More

We visited Brazen as the COVID numbers are beginning to spike again in Dubuque and all of Iowa. We had been told that Brazen is following the spirit as well as the letter of responsible behavior during the pandemic. Tables have been removed to socially...distance guests and servers wear both face masks and gloves as does the kitchen staff. Staff temperatures are taken at the beginning of their shift. Guests are required to wear masks upon entering. The food was fabulous - as usual. We started with the outrageously delicious Pork Belly, crispy, rich, unctuous pork belly, with fermented cabbage, my new favorite small bite, replacing the perennial favorite, duck tacos. One of us had the Butter Poached Halibut, perfectly cooked halibut with green pea risotto and frizzled leeks and the other the Prime Burger, a mammoth burger made from prime beef ground a la minut. Our server, Renee, was knowledgeable and attentive while maintaining social distancing. All in all, a delicious diversion during trying times.More

This restaurant made our anniversary dinner so special. The cocktail, pandemic blue, was amazing. The salmon and the fried chicken were so delicious and the cheesecake for our anniversary was the delicious ending to a perfect dinner. But what made the dinner was our waitress,...Abby. She is such an asset to this restaurant!!More
