Heather makes the best Cosmo and Moscow Mules. Ribeye sandwich, sweet potatoes topped with maple syrup, fish sandwich and burgers are great! They have the best homemade noodles but they go fast! So worth the stop!!!

I was in Dubuque for a gig and was looking for a cool laid back local bar grill.. I drove around the area from my hotel and found Kalmes.. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the bartender and there were a few people in the place.. She, didn't catch her name, had the whole place covered. Got to talk... More

I love this place! Huge assortment of burgers. I had the green olive burger with swiss served with fries. My buddy had the gouda burger with grilled onions and mushrooms. It was heaven! I also appreciate the flavored ketchup and friendly service. Charming space.

Chicken is wonderful as are the burgers. Not very friendly staff but service is good. Located in the heart of the city and has a good selection of beers on tap.

By far the best prime rib I've ever had! My husband liked the liver and onions and we enjoyed the large selection of draft and bottled beer and the atmosphere. Kalmes could become one of my favorites!

Tuesday lunch special, cheap burgers. Regular burgers are even better, Hawaiian burger was messy but awesome.

Consistently very good, the service is friendly and the price is right. I suggest to order the daily special, especially the pork tenderloin.

Stopped here for supper and came back again later for night cap. Both times service was outstanding as well as the food and drinks. When we arrived for our night cap, the kitchen had just closed, however the staff still made us appetizers. If you are in the area, this is a must stop. Customer service and great food is... More

Anyone who has lived in Dubuque knows the quality of Kalmes when it comes to cooking steaks at large gatherings. The company brings that quality to their restaurant which has excellent burgers.

I arrived about 11:20am and the place was empty. Leaving at 12:15pm it was FULL. The lunch special today was a very good French Dip sandwich w/fries. Lots of other things to pick from. The crowd seemed to be mostly working folks on lunch hour and I am sure they appreciated the speedy service. Colorful decor was pleasing.
