South Union is the deli offshoot of Orchestrate Mgmnt whose portfolio includes local favorites such as Centro, Zombie Burger, Malo, Django, etc. The help yourself garlic foccasia bread is a unique favorite.

Had the Sarah's Revenge - it's a quality sandwich. Great roast beef and focaccia. They also give you a side of bread too. Get the olive oil as it's of great quality too. All around, worth it for an $8 sandwich.

With so many delicious sounding sandwiches on the menu to choose from, I had to go with my first instinct and ordered the Sarah's Revenge. This was a great decision, as the rare roast beef and bacon(!) melded with the gooey mozzarella and soft sauteed peppers with a light kick from the mild horseradish sauce into a flavor combination that... Came here for lunch while on business. Ordered ham and cheese on rye with mustard and lettuce. Also ordered the turkey sub. Received a hot ham and cheese on there own bread with no mustard. /the turkey sub was pretty good. Prices moderate.

Best sandwiches in town and the service is awesome. Tends to get noisy around lunch time so you have to stand near the counter so you can hear when your order is ready.

I absolutely LOVE this place. Usually go here 3 times a week for lunch as I work nearby. I order online, pickup is super easy and the guys that are at the checkout counter are seriously the nicest. Love the bread and their Caesar salad is phenomenal! Check this place out, you won't regret it.

This is truly the BEST bread in the world. It is so soft, and you can go up for endless pieces of bread and oil dip. The line can get very long during the lunch hour, so plan to go early. Everything about this place is fairly typical, except for the amazing bread. It is worth the trip just to... More

We went during the downtown lunch rush so it was crowded but the line moved fast. Although the food was good, it is along the same lines as a Panera.

My boys and I walked over for lunch (we were staying at the Downtown Marriott). What a great place! Get there early because a line forms fast and long for lunch- but does seem to move quickly. Seating can fill up fast, though. My boys split the regular turkey sandwich. It can be a bit tricky to eat for kids-... More

South Union is owned by the same people that own Centro. I travel to Des Moines for business a few times a year and I always have lunch at least once at South Union. First, the bread is amazing. Soft and hearty at the same time. The meat is high quality. The soups are very good. After you pick up... More
