In Des Moines for a family event and was hungry for BBQ. I liked the friendliness of Flying Mango. The owner spent a lot of time walking around talking to patrons I had a pulled pork sandwich, red beans and rice and cornbread. All were good. I'm not a fan of sucked soaked pulled pork but it was good. I... More

The food at this restaurant is quite good ... above average, but it is a small space with tables crowded together. Waiting area (and you will have to wait) is also small ... but that's okay if you like to rub shoulders and make new friends. Point is that the dining area is very loud and noisy. If everyone would... More

This was our 4th Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives stop for the day. We SHARED the Catfish Cakes. Very tasty and the flavor was great. The prices were pretty good to. The staff was very friendly. The owner is a riot as was his wife. We really enjoy meeting the owners and hearing their DDD stories.

We wish we would have come here sooner! I had the catfish cakes with the daily grits (they also have daily potatoes). The cornbread with good, but I've had better. My husband had a meat trio with ribs, brisket, and sausage. He loved everything! Lots of good, southern sides also.

This was my first time at this restaurant. My colleagues took me there to try the brisket. So I ordered their 24 hour brisket...the owner delivered it to my table and demonstrated how tender the brisket would be by using my fork! It flaked off like fish meat. Plus the taste was out of the world. My friend tried their... More

The BBQ was very good. We liked the ribs and the brisket the best. The other entrees were ok. The red beans and rice and the cornbread were good sides. We had to wait a long time for our food. The drinks were served promptly but then things went downhill. We were early but the restaurant was crowded. We were... More

This is one of our go to places when friends come to visit. I was treated to a Mother's Day meal and throughly enjoyed my meal as did my dining companions. Knowing the portion sizes I skipped the delicious starters and opted for the Brisket with sides of sautéed veggies and the potato of the day. The brisket was moist... More

This is the best Brisket I have eaten anywhere in the world. It has the perfect taste and melts in your mouth. My mouth is watering just writing about it. The sides are also awesome. You have to have the cornbread with the meal.
