Had a reservation and was promptly seated, plus! Seated in back area with several loud tables that we could not have a conversation between the 4 of us without shouting. Both mine and my wife’s filet which was requested medium was more medium well. Hash...browns were lackluster. For almost a $400 bill, I will look to go elsewhere for a place that can deliver on quality and ambiance.More

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here...food was very good and I left stuffed. Its a little spendy but worth it. They hit it on all phases...customer service excellent, food was excellent, clean and very good environment. Great place to experience

We had our anniversary dinner here and our service was terrible. It was just my husband and I with a $300 bill. I don't mind paying that price for good service on special occasions but it was bad. So... We thought we would give it...another try and stop n for a drink on a Friday night. We do love the atmosphere and ambiance. The two male bartenders couldn't have been more rude and arrogant. We felt like we were bothering them. We stayed for one drink and left. So sad about these experiences. We really loved this place.More

Went for a happy hour and enjoyed a variety of special cocktails and most every appetizer on the menu. Drinks were fabulous, food was good, service started slow, but got better eventually

We weren't able to use our Groupon because of some health problems we coudn't use it by the time it would expire. Tried to call several times to talk about the problems. No one returned our calls the Groupon expired because of the problem. We...are new to the Des Moines area and everyone told us that we would love to eat at the 801 Chop house!! Not happy that we didn't get a call back for the people in charge.More

Sunday night dinner is a great way to get their consistently amazing food on pre fix menu. Portions are large and it’s a great value. Excellent service, and atmosphere beautifully decorated for holidays. Recommend for very nice night. Tip: Skip lobster corn dog appetizer, just...ok.More

First time at 801 Chophouse for the wife’s birthday. We loved it. Atmosphere is great. Wine list is excellent. Bartenders and servers were on point and the food was excellent. Did not hurry us and allowed us to enjoy our evening. It’s expensive but you...know that going in so if your problem is price then go elsewhere. We had the oysters Rockefeller which were outstanding, the filet with mushroom sauce, the 801 prime rib cut and the brocollini and blue cheese potatoes. And the chocolate soufflé was amazing. Well done 801. Our server was Kelsey. She was great. And they decorated the table, gave her a card and a menu that said happy birthday on it. And comped the dessert without us asking or expecting.More

Top quality food and menu. The bread seemed to be just baked, warm and fresh. Salad and entree absolutely perfect. I enjoyed "The Chicken" and the pear salad. Menu for wine and cocktails is extensive. A little noisy as the restaurant was full. Death by...Chocolate..good for 2 or three people.More

My coworkers and I enjoyed a wonderful meal and excellent service. The abundant, shareable sides were fantastic. My ribeye was perfection. Service was fantastic. It was pricey but worth the money.

Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday. I put a little note in the reservation, so they set the table up decorated especially for her! She really gets into table decorations and so this was such a special treat for her! The menu even said...'happy birthday' on it. And of course the food was excellent. She had sea bass that melted in her mouth. My prime rib was top-notch too! It was a very nice experience to cap off a wonderful weekend in Des Moines.More

Im not sure of their particular laws and policies. In a restaurant in Washington DC area, we brought wine and paid an uncorking fee. At the end of the day, call ans ask for a manager.
