While this is a large restaurant that knows how to get people in and out, the ribs were excellent. It's right off the highway so its a great place to stop when you're on the road.

It is a very busy place, self service and a long line to wait in. Have had the most delicious turkey special and then every time I have tried to get it since , they have run out of it. I love brisket but last tiem it was dry. Messy , tabels dont get cleaned quickly but for the proce... More

I really love the burnt end sandwich and potato casserole, but its so pricey! Lunch rib special on Wednesdays is a good value. I used to like their brisket but lately its too dry and chewy unless you drown it in sauce. I think its better to eat at the 2nd Avenue location where they actually prepare the food. At... More

Simply the best barbecue in town. The food is the draw---the atmosphere is pure country BBQ. I always get a half rack, the onion/cucumber salad and green beans. (The baked beans are especially good also, but don't be afraid to try any of the sides.). The ribs are just right dry with no sauce on them and I eat some... More

By far THE best place to eat BBQ in Iowa. The ribs are great. Try the burnt ends dinner. They are the best that I've ever had. Even the sides are good. The potato casserole, mac and cheese, and baked beans are as good as any I've ever had. The order comes to your table in just a matter of... More

We recently had Smokey D's cater an event of over 100 and it was great service. They sent an attendant along who went around and picked up all of the plates by himself. Not used to this kind of service and we had always used Hickory Park for this annual event at DMACC. The food was good as expected but... More

This is the best place in town for quality, price, and service. Their brisket, burnt ends, and variety of sauces are always great. They also have great turkey, chicken wings and tenderloins. The potato salad salad, potato casserole and baked beans are awesome as well. You can eat for $7 or $20 depending on your budget and appetite.

The food was okay but nothing to drive out of your way for. The prices aren't bad either. I had the Sunday special which was potatoes with turkey, the turkey was just run of the mill shredded turkey instead of the traditional sliced turkey you usually find on sandwiches. Husband got the brisket and it was good but not a... More

OK, I admit I'm a sucker for BBQ places and had high hopes for Smokey D's. My wife and I stopped for lunch on Sept. 28 while on our way to CO to visit my brother. We ordered at a window and someone brought out our food later but after that the service essentially stopped. My wife wasn't happy with... More

Wife and I in DM once a year for a quilt show. Love the diversity and quality of restaurants here. Had to try #1 on Trip Advisor, and so glad we did. Wife had the half chicken - moist and flavorful. Collards had a unique sweetness. I had ribs and buffalo wings. Ribs were amazing and the sauces were great,... More
