If you like home cooked Cajun food.... Fat Tuesday is a great place.... We started with the combo appetizers... Fabulous gumbo..and beans...and Etouffee..... Had the Catfish smothered with Etouffee and rice and the Breaded Catfish with Cajun fries... The catfish wasn't really breaded.... more of a cornmeal coating.... Make sure to ask for the Crack sauce.... (Tarter sauce....) Best fish... More

Went to dinner with my mom, aunt, and my sister met us there. I got some complaints from my mom and aunt on the choice until we started eating! Knew i had made a great choice before that but the server truly perfected the evening! Fun and relaxed setting with amazing 🎶 music!!! Gumbo and jambalaya was so full of... More

If you want good Cajun food in Des Moines, this is the place. The restaurant is small and easy to miss from the road. But the food is always good. My favorites are the Gumbo, blackened catfish, collard greens and green beans. The green beans have potatoes in them and a nice bite to them. My husband's favorite is the... More

When I was there we ate off of plastic plates and with plastic utensils. I had pulled pork and gumbo. It was nothing special but I will say that there isn't a lot of "cajun" type food in Des Moines so it made for a nice experience.

My husband and I were in Des Moines after a blizzard in Minneapolis so we were just staying overnight. Hotel recommended the restaurant and said it had great pie. So we tried a little bit of everything on an appetizer plate and everything was delicious. Red beans and rice was recommended by the waiter and it was by far the... More

The wait staff was very attentive and although the food came out in a bit of confused order it was delicious. I think they should redo the flooring as the Mrs and I both caught our foot a couple of times. The rest of the decor is what I'd call understated but yet just enough. We had the Appetizer Sampler... I reviewed this restaurant once before and found it to be excellent. However, it has gotten even better! First, the menu shows pictures for people new to Cajun and soul food. Second, they have some new menu items. I had their steak'n'cheese Cajun Po'Boy, and it was AMAZING!! Yes, I know I used all caps and two exclamation points. Additionally,... More

I went here with a family of five, and was accommodated well. My gator po-boy was delicious, and while I typically prefer gator from the glades, than the swamp, it tasted fresh, and not tough. Being able to get any gator within 20 miles of my house in the Midwest was a bonus, but this place exceeded my expectations. The... More

HIDDEN GEM ALERT!!! Live, authentic blues music by Big Dee and Terry on Friday and Saturday nights, generous portions of every kind of Cajun food you ever thought of, and some you probably haven't thought of - including alligator po' boy sandwiches, and you ain't had sweet potato fries or sweet potato pie until you've had them at Fat Tuesday....
