This very unassuming bar was a wonderful find. The bartendress took great care of us. The food was excellent and the prices were an added bonus. I loved the huge taco. My companion enjoyed the beef and gravy. It was quite a treat from road...fast food. We will definately be back when we travel through. As a treat the train tracks were behind the building. It is a real railroad area which just adds to the destination. Thank you for the great service and kind smiles.More

Our first time back post-pandemic. We were pleased to see it was still there and menu similar to what it had been. We had always enjoyed the Fruend Chicken so we both ordered it. First though we were surprised at how empty the place was...and wondered if the quality of food had taken a nosedive. The chicken dinner was very good. The chicken pieces are much larger and better cooked than you will get at Super Saver, that has raised their prices close to 50%, FamilyFare, and HyVee. For a good dinner and better priced than KFC or Canes.. Soup is always worth trying, some interesting varieties, but only once did I completely dislike it. Sala is included so be aware of that. Wat could easily be improved is the corn and mashed potatoes. The corn, out of a can, tasted as thought it had been sitting most of the day. The mashed potatoes were 'weak'(?) Have often wondered why you aren't offered the REAL french fries they make, cost-wise is probably an even trade. It's an 'old school' dive bar, sitting right next to the train tracks which can be noisy when a train is leaving town. Enjoy your food, the staff has always been friendly if you are also.More

Definitely a no frills place with excellent service. Ambiance is tired old bar with several tv’s, dirty feeling but trying. Food was good as long as you’re not looking for anything healthy. We had The Pork Tenderloin ‘basket’ which is really a sandwich with fries,....50 for a very small slice of tomato, .25 for a leaf of lettuce, extras for the sandwich. Kind of ridiculous. Hot beef sandwich with fake potatoes and I had a salad which was simple but fresh and delicious. A 1/2 salad with less than a 1/4 cup of grilled chicken was $12.99. Don’t expect any mixed drink, cocktail or wine, only shots and beer….NO tap. I think they need to expand their thinking.More

Wow, Full Rack of Ribs on Tuesdays and Fridays $15 bucks plus two sides incredible. I doubt you can finish but thats ok you can take the rest home for another day. Sweet humble server can't remember her name but I'm sure she doesn't mind,...she took care of us, brought us plenty of napkins, brought us pitchers of the pop we ordered and made sure we were good and full before we left. Great tasting food that you will stop at again when you are in the area. Californians who won't forget. Thanks.More

Great service and friendly atmosphere. Large portions and priced fare some may say even cheap because of the quality and large portions. I recommend the breakfast sandwich, bacon, French toast, or hash browns with white gravy. Lunch and dinner are good too. Shrimp basket, any...burger, crinkle fries are my favorite, but some like the freshly made steak fries, usually a good soup of the day and there side salads are good. Daily specials are good to and priced right. Rib day is probably my favorite. Saturday special is half a chicken with potatoes and corn for under $10. Better fried chicken then KFC for sure. Oh yeah $2.75 cans of beer.More

I was in town for RAGBRAI last week. Came for late breakfast (pancakes). Played on stage all day and stayed for an amazing mushroom swiss burger at the end of the day. This is a locals hangout, obviously loved by the local crowd. They welcomed...me as one of their own and treated me like I was at home.More

I meet a buddy here on occasion and my ma loves taco night. Not fancy but very good food. The fried cauliflower is my weakness and is awesome. Plus people are just plain nice at this place. Go on Saturday and get the fried chicken...special.More

Very good food and prices are from the 80’s. I love this place. I guess I need to say more before I can submit. Chow is epic and old school good.

You definitely aren't going to simply run across this restaurant, it's something you have to go in search of. Seems to be a local hang-out bar with plenty of games and even more "regulars" drinking at the bar. We went for lunch and had the...tenderloin basket and it was good. Menu is typical bar food, nothing fancy, but plenty of good choices. Prices were good as well.More

It's clearly a local favorite which might explain the ratings. The food was awful. Pork tenderloin was huge, overcooked and dry, fries were soggy, beef was salty, chili wasn't great.

Great find. We are here due to family in the ICU and ran across this place on here. Decided to try it out and they had a fantastic Valentine dinner that was actually really yummy. 2 Ribeye, 2 soup, 2 salad, 2 potatoes, all you...can drink Champlain, garlic bread and xoxox for desert. All for $30.00 yes only $30 it was a fantastic whole to find. Wait staff was super super sweet and very friendly.More

Great go to place. Menu is as large as the normal bar restaurant place you would typically go to but the specials, prices and portions are outstanding. Be careful how much you order before looking around and seeing the portions. Friendly place, service is always...outstanding when in town it is a must stop.More
