What a great down-home mom-and-pop eatery! A huge menu, but the best thing on it is the enormous breaded pork tenderloin sandwich! Iowa prides itself on its tenderloin sandwiches and this one is tops!

Wife and I went in to this place. Nobody greeted us. We sat. They were not busy. Heavy set guy behind the register said nothing. After 10 minutes of waiting and not having anyone say anything to us or bring us water or a menu...we got up to leave. The guy behind the register says, "Where you going?" I just smiled and kept moving. It was a very tense environment and we were happy to leave.More
Good place to eat. The service can get a bit slow as there are two opposite sides to this cafe with two separate entrances. If your waitress is working both sides, service gets a bit slow. The hot roast beef sandwich is best on Tuesdays...and the burgers are average eats. The breakfast skillet is very good.More
We wanted to have a local restaurant which has a limited menu but well worth it. The homemade pies were wonderful as well as the homemade hamburgers!
Easy on the budget. Great breakfasts all day and chicken strips yummy. Staff friendly. Mostly family owned. Lots of seating. Close to park, library, ice cream shop, railroad museum and squirrel cage jail.
The food was pretty good. I had the Tenderloin sandwich (photo attached); seems to be staple in Iowa. It was big enough for two people. Wasn't the best I've had but was tasty. The other three people had the Hot Beef Sandwich, & Hot Hamburger...Sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their meal; we all left full.More
Cinnamon rolls the size of dinner plates !! Amazing value for the size. Cheap, convenient and delicious. Very busy during brunch time, but worth the wait ! Quick service and awesome staff. You won't be disappointed!
They have a variety of comfort foods to please anyone. Never had a bad meal there. We usually have been there for breakfast. Occasionally a supper.
Had a nice lunch with our granddaughter today. She had the child's chicken strips with fries. We had Philadelphia cheese steaks whip were pretty good. I little too much bread but good flavor. Nice place for lunch after visiting the U.P. Train Museum
I read the reviews on this café and they sounded pretty good, so thought I would give Main Street Café a try. I went for breakfast and ordered their eggs and bacon. I specifically asked for soft scrambled eggs, and asked the waitress to underline...the word 'soft.' When my order arrived, I knew immediately I should send it back, but was in a hurry, so I ate it. The eggs were not only hard, they were almost rubbery! The three bacon strips were small and slightly overcooked. The iced tea was instant, not brewed, and I just couldn't drink it, it was that bad. The only decent thing about the breakfast was the English muffin and jam, neither of which were made by the restaurant. Also, the waitress did not check on me even once. Very disappointing and I will not go back.More
