Decent food, pitifully slow service.

We've eaten at Tish's twice in the past week. First time was great for our early dinner during the week. Today at lunchtime, it was busy, perhaps because of a party and the College World Series. Food was OK, service was awfully slow. Our server walked right by our table 4 times without even glancing at us (this doesn't count the 3 times she came to our table to deliver food and drop off the check. It took us almost two hours to eat (both ordered the daily special), counting the time we had to wait on our check. Finally left cash because we didn't want to wait another half hour. We ordered dessert; my wife's came and the server waited until then to tell me they were out of the dessert I'd ordered. Had to ask twice for a dessert menu and neither the server nor the young man who was helping out bothered to come back until my wife was nearly finished with her dessert. By that point, I'd lost interest in dessert and just wanted to leave. If you go, call ahead to see how busy they are and pick someplace else if you're on limited time.

nothing special for lunch

We ate there for the first time today, looks nice on entry clean and nice. Wood booths no padding on seats hard as hell, my butt was hurting by time we left. Waitress not to friendly all business think she was one of the owners, told her it was our first time eating there and she acted like she didn't care. Food was ok not great had their Cal burger and wife KC BBQ burger nothing special about them. her burger was salty and way to much BBQ sauce. Wife soup was salty to were she couldn't eat it. it was lunch time not to busy.

Do t waste money on the premium salad

This was our first visit to Tish’s - nice setting and good mid priced menu. My spouse had the Sirloin which was average in quality. I got the Salmon, which was good. Rather than the side salad that comes with the meal, I chose the “premium” cap Rees salad for $3 upcharge. We were shocked when my salad wasps virtually identical to the regular salad, mostly iceberg lettuce. Service was good.

Very dissappointed

A referral from the hotel for a non-chain dinner option. The overall experience was poor. We had a new server but her communications was very poor. She rarely checked on us, did not communicate about the late food and just was flat with no personality. The food came out very late and had little flavor. They could benefit from basic salt and pepper. The pasta alfredo was bland and they steak on my salad was ordered rare but came med rare which would have been fine but it had no flavor. Overall the value was good with a few exceptions. The dinner salad was barely enough for a child and the wine was over priced at $8 glass (Mondovi). The bright spot for my daughter was the chocolate shake. No mask policy or anything posted regarding this. We would not go back or recommend.

Went to Tish's because it was near our hotel and had good reviews. The food was quite good, but not very large serving. Wait staff were pleasant. But my wife and I usually order just one order and ask for an additional plate and them we split it ourselves, especially when there is no seniors menu. That's what we did. Turns out there was $3.00 charge for "split orders". Retrospectivly there is a small note on the menu, but the staff did mot mention it when we asked for an extra plate. Usually a "split order" implies the kitchen splits it for us, and might include an extra roll. Never have we been charged for an extra plate! The wait staff couldn't remove the charge, and the owner/manager showed no interest. He said his wife made all those decisions. A small unexpected annoyance, but aggravating.

ONE of OUR FAVORITE PLACES

This place is amazing! Owners will come out and ask how your experience with them has been. Very good food and menu selection with prices that are very reasonable! We used their backroom for our wedding reception, everyone had a good time and was able to choose way variety of what they wanted from a menu we created from dishes off of their main menu. Highly recommend!!

Lovely local restaurant with lots of choices.

Good food, not your run of the mill chain. Hubby had the chili and said it was tasty with just the right amount of kick. House salads had fresh lettuce and hand cut veggies, not the bagged stuff you see at other restaurants. The flatbread with chicken and spinach was seasoned well and tasted good. We love supporting local businesses, and appreciated the warm welcomes from the wait staff and the owner. Great pic for a cold rainy night!

Good food ~ friendly patrons!

A quick stop in Council Bluffs and we needed dinner. Driving past Tish's, we decided to give it a try. Plenty of parking, good food, courteous wait staff, lots of football on many tv's, and most of the diners were wearing hats. Two friendly Midwesterners sent us a sample of the well-reknowned meatloaf and then PICKED UP OUR TAB! Even if you have to pay for your own meal, the food makes it well worth a visit!

Excellent food served here!

We were traveling and found this restaurant nearby our hotel. Reviews were good so we gave it a try. Well, if we lived here we would be back again and again. The food was excellent. The Caprese salad very good. Stir fried vegetables and rice with seared chicken delish. Fettuccine with chicken also very good. Would recommend this place for anyone.

Our first visit

First time to Tish’s tonight. Food was very good as was service. Really enjoyed the jalapeño and onion strings appetizer. Fish and chips were delicious with home made potato chips. Enchilada was modest in size but the flavor was great. We’ll be back!

Great Philly Sandwich and service!

On our way to an evening meeting on a Friday, we didn't have much time for dinner. However, the hostess and the waiter were both very understanding of our situation and they made sure that we were helped quickly. The restaurant was crowded, but service was great! I had the Philly which was delicious! Plenty of chicken, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and cheese on that sandwich! My wife was a big fan of the Texas Toast Grilled Cheese with added tomato. She got potato wedges and I got fries; we hard and both were very good. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Tish's and we will come back again when we have more time to more fully enjoy the ambiance.

Real food!

This is a family-owned restaurant where they serve real food. Great, friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere make for a winning combination. We'll definitely eat there again the next time we're in Council Bluffs.

Pleasant Local Restaurant

This local place is a great option to food offered near hotels and casinos. Menu is large, food is tasty and servings are generous. Shelby, our server, was first rate. Enjoyed salmon with roasted potates and brocolli and grilled cheese sandwich with homemae beef vegetable soup.

Great variety and service

We actually ate here 3 times during our week at CWS - it was very close to our hotel, and on our way to downtown Omaha. Plus, the food and service were outstanding. Especially liked their salads (Cobb, Caprese) and their sandwiches (BLT, Pork Tenderloin). Everything we had was delicious and of adequate portion.

Good food, pretty far out of the way, worth the trip

Best sweet potato fries I've ever had, by far. They were perfect and I am fussy about fries. Superior burger too. Good service. Ambiance is a bit hole in the wall but the food is worth it.
