we were in Iowa for a wedding and on July 10, we were driving around checking out the area, and happened upon this wonderful gem ! We were there at 1230 , and there was a huge patio which had people on it, and from...the outside this place looked kind of fancy, and thought we were under dressed, but once we got inside, it was so relaxed, and high ceilings, booths, big bar, big TV's! not crowded inside (or out) which was great due COVID! (ugh) at any rate, we each had a beer, and my hubby ordered a steak sandwhich with chips $11 ( very good ) and I had THE BEST Cobb salad, with like 6 good sized butterflied fried shrimp $14! It was a steal, SOOOOOO good. we then split cheesecake for dessert. The whole bill with tax was like $42! We would highly recomment Tish's if you are in the neighborhood of Council Bluffs, IA or Omaha, NE.More

After so much research about good fried pork tenderloin sandwiches, which is an Iowa big deal, leads us across the river into Council Bluffs. To Tish's restaurant. This place got very good reviews for the food and service. And the pork sandwich. Nice decor and...vibe. We were able to sit in their covered patio area and it was quite pleasant out there. Most employees we saw had masks including the young man who came to take our order. We quickly learned that he was very new. Meg chose the steak sandwich with salad. The young man asked if she wanted all that came on it straight from the menu, including the hoagie-the bread the sandwich came on 😀. I ordered the pork sandwich with sweet potato fries and asked what came on it since it was not listed on the menu. He looked for a bit on his little computer but eventually had to go find someone to ask. Got that straight and off he went. Salad was simple and sparse. After not too long the meals arrived. The steak on Megan's sandwich was pretty thick for eating that way, with a sad slice of cheese on top along with sauteed mushrooms and onions. She reported that the veggies were actually the best part as the steak was overcooked and tough. Turned into a knife and fork situation very quickly. My pork tenderloin was quite large, spreading out past the bun on all sides. Nice soft brioche bun well toasted but with no sauces. Lettuce tomato onion and pickle on the side. The meat seemed a little dark, like fried too long or in old oil. Same issue with the fries which were really bad. Meat very thin and crispy to the point of being somewhat dry. Should have adjusted the meat size to fit the bun better as it just wanted to slip out when I picked up the bun. The house sauce added some flavor and moisture which was nice. But I call the sandwich a disappointment, possibly due somewhat to my high expectations. I chose Tish's partially because they listed desserts from the famous Golden Boy bakery out of KC. But when I asked the waiter about the flavors available, he told me they had not been ordering pies due to slow business(Covid). They had cake and we chose the double chocolate. It came cold which stunted the flavor some but it was real good, especially the frosting. And it got better as it warmed up outside. All in all pretty disappointing.More

We wanted to have a gathering of 9 people to celebrate our family birthdays in June and an anniversary. Nebraska only allowed 6 people at a table at the time, while Iowa allowed 10. So over to Council Bluffs we went. Tish’s was our choice....We were not disappointed. All Covid protocols were in place. Food was good and April our server was excellent. Only disappointment was only 1 type of streak on the menuMore

Tish's has great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The service is good. This is a good place for a date night dinner.

First time to Tish’s tonight. Food was very good as was service. Really enjoyed the jalapeño and onion strings appetizer. Fish and chips were delicious with home made potato chips. Enchilada was modest in size but the flavor was great. We’ll be back!

I had the House rib eye and will honestly say it fell way short of my expectations. For the price tag I was expecting a nice cut of meat. Very thin cut and 90% fat. It was burnt to a crisp when I ordered med...rare. The veggies were cold. My wife had the crab cake dinner and could not finish it. Crab was under cook and tasted spoiled according to her. Staff was unfriendly and seemed like they had more important things to do than take our order. Never had our drinks refilled, so needless to say 1st and last visit. With so many other good places to dine out you would be better served going else where.More

We ordered salads and they were good but I thought a little pricey for the size. Nice staff but took a little while to pay.

Trying to figure out where to go for dinner - almost forgot about Tish’s. Really good food - always. And a good selection. Chicken fried steak was the special - and was good. Decent options on beers. Dessert - why not - simple but good.

Not very crowded on a Friday night and so got right in. So nice to not have a long wait to find a table on a Friday night. The Seabass was OK but not as flaky as I’ve had. The pork chop was thick but...a little overcooked and dry. Staff are very friendly and a good quiet place for a healthy bite to eat. There is seating outside and on the right night can be pretty special.More

After being in our car the whole day it was lovely to sit on the patio with our dog. We both had the Cobb Salad with grilled chicken. It was delicious and we saved room for a Turtle Sundae. They have specials every night. It...was taco night and they looked great - large with all the fixings. The wait staff was great and brought a bowl and water for the dog. This is our second stop and we’ll come back.More
