This was our first time in this area of Iowa, and we didn't really have high expectations for foo. But their puller pork sandwich, cornbread, and their bean also had pork (that was so tasty). Definitely, the place to eat at if you are near...this area! The service was great also.More

We found this place on a Tuesday night. Right downtown with only a few patrons. The beer selection was adequate and I ordered the onion rings and two meat platter. The brisket was very tender and moist, like I like it. And the shanks were...OUTSTANDING! I used the sauce with a little bite which was just right. Also, the mac and cheese and beans were very good. Our server, Gabby, was friendly and attentive. I'd patronize this place in a heartbeat.More

I visited Boxer BBQ while on a business trip and was BLOWN AWAY by the amazing BBQ. I wasn’t expecting Iowa to hold up to Kansas City and Texas BBQ, but they did! The baby back ribs were tender and full of flavor and the...corn bread is to die for! My friend tried the brisket and loved it as well. I will definitely be back!More

My fiancé and I visited on a Friday afternoon. It was not very busy, so the service was really quick! We shared some cheesy jalapeño fries and I’d recommend them! They were beer battered and served hot. But be careful not to have too many...you can’t enjoy your entree ;) My fiancé enjoyed the two meat combo of ribs and brisket. He was very impressed with the ribs. He works in the meat industry so I take his word for when he enjoys the meat. The ribs fell off the bone, they were so tender! Likewise, the brisket was very tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the brisket sandwich. I preferred the sweet BBQ sauce, while he really liked the spicy. The spicy is vinegar based (like Carolina bbq), while the sweet and smoky were more KC style. We both had the Mac and cheese and cornbread for sides. We agreed we didn’t love the macaroni and cheese, but we would order something else next time. The cornbread was very good! Sweet, buttery and full of honey. Excellent way to end the meal! A note: there is parking available, but limited spots in the lot. Beats paying for the meters! All in all, we loved this place. Priced right, great portions and can’t wait to come back and try more!More

Stopped in as we were driving through to Omaha and so glad we did. EXCELLENT bbq! Between our table we had the brisket, pulled pork, cornbread, potato salad and baked beans. Everything was very fresh and tasted amazing. I highly recommend stopping in. Empty plates...all around.More

Wow, what a good dinner we had! To be a 5 for me means everything had to be right. Food taste, temp, presentation, service, atmosphere, location and parking. This was our first time there. If you haven't been to Boxer in the last 5 or...so years, you really need to go to this new location in a totally renovated old building on Main Street. They have their own parking right next to the building which was great. Getting out of our truck we could smell the smoker..heaven if you enjoy Q like I do. The inside was comfortable and very clean with a beautiful community table running down the center of the eatery. It has several booths and several tables. They have a full service bar and happy to say, a good selection of brews on tap, including local brews, which is awesome. Support local! Our server was Brandon. He was very happy to explain the items on the menu. Pointed out the new items and was obviously proud to work there. I had 2 meat combo of brisket and pulled pork. It comes with 2 sides. I had potato casserole and a salad. My husband had spare ribs and brisket with cole slaw and potato casserole. The brisket was very good. Very thick and melts in your mouth. Pulled pork was excellent. Great pieces with bark on them. Yum. My husband said his ribs were excellent and not dry at all and not at all salty. Potato casserole had great flavor. I look forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu.More

I have been a loyal customer for many years I must say their new location is pretty impressive. 99.9% of the time the food has been excellent quality however to be honest the last takeout order 2 weeks ago my wife and I were not...real pleased the food was cold the ribs were terribly over-cooked dry and tough to eat. Staff is friendly and accommodating I will continue to eat there in the hopes that the last meal was just a blip on the radar.More

Two weeks ago we ordered ribs to go with sides. I was amazed at how little the side orders of cold slaw and beans were. Very small take out pastic containers. I hope if we get around to eating inhouse that the servings are bigger...and better. Ribs were a little bit well done. We are glad that we finally have a local BBQ place and we will eat there some time and eat in.More

New location on 5th Avenue and Main Street. Love the brick walls and long table in the middle of the room. Great ribs and very filling. Beans are also good. Be sure to talk to the owners and hear their story!
