It was Saturday night and the place was packed - that's a good sign of good food. Waited just 20 - 30 minutes to be seated. The bar area is awesome and the place is huge! Service was fast and friendly despite the huge crowd. We had the steak sandwich, the french dip and steak fajitas. The food was good... More

A very solid place to have lunch or dinner in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food is always good and the service first rate. I have been going to the "ID" since 1973 and have not had a bad experience.

Come for the atmosphere, stay for the wings. Biggest, most meaty wings ever had. Only wish they had more flavors. And if you're a pretentious beer snob, their menu is large, too. Would take anyone here first time in Cedar rapids.

The Irish Democrat was one of the first restaurants/bars that I went to in Cedar Rapids in 1992 while on a recruiting contract for MCI. The food is very good. I like their salads, especially their Mediterranean Grilled Salad and Fajita Salad. Their Fajitas as entrees are also very good.

It's a little hard to find as we drove by it the first time. We were told by someone else to turn at the flowerrama which we did. It's kind of a back door restaurant from the parking lot. Nice place!

Typical bar food. Burgers, nachos, bacon cheese fries, onion rings, chicken fingers, pizza. Guinness on tap but only 2 Irish Whiskeys available. No Irish food items. Food was good but not Irish. Staff very attentive and friendly. Lots of seating. Window area towards front and then bar area w/ lots of tables. Fun place. Kudos to the friendly staff.

Stopped for lunch and was very pleased with the "Calla's Irish Stew" even game with some pumpernickel for sopping up the gravy. It appeared to be filled with locals enjoying lunch, which I always feel is a good sign!

We got the suggestion from trip advisor. I had the bleu burger. My husband had the fish and chips. We started with the mushroom caps. AWESOME!! The cole slaw was also outstanding. I ordered the cheesy fries with my burger. Really yummy! We enjoyed the crowd watching the world series with us. Outstanding service

This is a great neighborhood bar, the atmosphere couldn't be more like "Cheers" if they tried. The food is good, tried and true pub fare, but without that glorpy corporate food taste that one experiences a lot these days in your average sports bar. This food actually tastes like it was made by someone, not just thawed out. Business associates,... More
