I feel like most Mexican restaurants pretty much offer the same food. So, I like to go to the ones that have better service and atmosphere. This one was better than the average Mexican place. The inside was very clean and almost look like new...still in a few areas. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was exactly what I expected it to be. Definitely worth another stop at some point.More

Dis Amigos clearly bought out Poblanos. the menu is identical and fairly common place for your average Mexican restaurant. really nothing special except the staff go out of their way to try really hard.

Hard to communicate with waiter. Music is overbearing. Food is served in ample quantities, lacks the Mexican flavor one would expect. Sides seem to be re warmed.

I love this restaurant! We don't have very many choices in West Lafayette for quality Mexican food and this one is my favorite! The staff is friendly, the food is great and I can't say enough about the location. Right by campus so it's an...easy in and out for lunch. The salsa is fresh and cold. It doesn't come in a little dish... you get a big bottle and you can pour in dishes among yourselves. I always get the arroz con pollo... it is a good portion and very cheesy. My husband likes steak fajitas and my daughter gets the hot dog lol... which can come with fries... so it has a little for every taste. Go ahead and try it out, you won't regret it!More

This Mexican restaurant recently opened in a location vacated by another Mexican restaurant near the Purdue University campus. The restaurant and parking lot were surprisingly quiet for a weekday lunchtime. Our group of three was seated quickly, and we ordered a vegetarian fajita, a chicken...fajita, and one of the lunch specials. The flavor of my lunch special (beef taco, beef enchilada and rice) was good, and the portion sizes were ample My only complaint was the food was not hot, the fajitas not sizzling (as usual) even though the waiter cautioned us that the plates were hot. Still, we agreed that Dos Amigos is worth another visit.More

My husband and I enjoyed our first trip here on a Friday evening. We were seated immediately and given menus and chips and salsa. The chips were a bit thick but good and the salsa wasn’t too spicy. Our waiter asked for our drink order...which consisted of a water and a Dos Equis Amber. He brought them quickly and told us that if we wanted another beer, it was a special two for $5.00 that day. This wasn’t an issue since only one beer is my husband’s limit. We ordered arroz con pollo and arroz con pollo y chorizo. Both meals were quite tasty with plenty of meat and a plateful of rice with cheese sauce. We ate a lot but still had plenty to take home for another meal. (We often order this dish at other restaurants, and we were surprised that this dish was at least $1.00 cheaper than at other local restaurants, and we have never had enough to take extra home.) Our waiter was attentive but not intrusive during our meal. He left us our bill and then arrived at our table a few seconds later with a dessert. He said, “It’s free.” It was a crispy banana chimichanga dusted with cinnamon and sugar, drizzled with chocolate sauce, and garnished with whipped cream. Wow! It was good! We usually don’t eat dessert, but we each gobbled our half of the chimichanga. We have no idea why we received the extra treat, but it was a nice gesture. This restaurant definitely is a service-oriented establishment; I could tell by the attention to detail of all the waiters, busboys, and servers. We will return and have told others of our great experience here. If I had to list one negative, it’s that they serve Pepsi products, and we like Coca-Cola.More

Dos Amigos opened her recently as of this writing; it took over the old, lackluster Poblano’s restaurant on the Levee next to the bike shop I frequent (so I can ride and do Trip Advisor reviews). My daughter and I were there so we checked...it out. Glad we did: simply put, the dishes and drinks were excellent. She had a large helping of vegetarian burritos and I had the combination burrito with chorizo and what was apparently very well-marinated steak strips, it really stood out in the mix of flavors. All good with the standard refried beans and rice. I felt like everyone around me was having a good time and had good food. The waiters are very formal and attentive, the atmosphere is casual and not too cliché. The family who runs the restaurant has a few other establishments, so they have tried and true recipes – which I intend to sample as soon as possible. I can’t really put my finger on the attention to detail on the dishes here that make them better, but since the Sunset Grille closed and went Korean I have been looking for an authentic Mex joint, in my opinion this is it in West Lafayette.More
