Nice décor, good food, great service

Went for the first time since they remodeled. Beautiful job, we sat on the new patio. Jenny, our server was great. Friendly and everything came out of the kitchen perfectly timed. I had a strip steak ( cooked exactly how I asked for it) and my wife had a chicken dish. We each had a cocktail and bill was $70. Not bad or what we ate but I'm sorry to say prices are going up in Valpo. I would call this a mid-range restaurant but based on prices I guess considered fine dining in Valpo? We will return to try the hamburger and ribs.

Great upgrades to building inside and out. Good food and service.

Great experience. Our server Cheryl was very patient and accommodating. The windows had no blinds and she climbed up and put menus in to block the afternoon sun. Good drinks, good food, the remodel is really nice and upscale. Good addition to Valpo dining. Will definitely recommend and return.

Surprisingly Good!

The last time I dined at Martini’s, I was not impressed at all. It smelled like smoke in the non-smoking section and the food was not very good. The atmosphere and decorating, made me not want to go back. Since then, they have refurbished the restaurant. it does not smell like smoke and the food was very good. They have a nice variety of items on the menu to choose from. I was with a group of friends and I had ordered the Fried Butterflied Panko-Crusted Shrimp. These shrimp were huge! They were also very tasty. My friend had ordered a large salad which had two proteins on it. She had a thick, generous piece of salmon and a chicken breast. I knew right away when I saw the portions, that she would need a box for her leftovers. Our server was excellent and I left there thinking that I’ll have to bring my husband here to try this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed if you dine here. I might have given them five stars but, even though they were good, my mashed potatoes were not served at the temperature they should have been.

Don't order the broiled seafood platter!

I had high hopes of getting a good dinner here but this restaurant failed miserably. I arrived later than my party and sat without anything to drink until the waitress finally came to the table to get everyone's dinner order. I ordered a drink along with my dinner and then waited and waited until I finally decided to go to the bar to get it. On the way there, I met the manager and he explained that our waitress was busy making salads, so he ended up bringing my drink that was sitting on the bar getting watered down from the melting ice. Nice. I ordered the broiled seafood platter for $33 and it was something akin to a dumpster fire, but without the heat! Most of the entrée tasted like it was cooked ahead of time as it was dry and not at all warm. The shrimp were tough and chewy, the salmon was cold, dry and obviously reheated, the sole wrapped crab cake was dried out (sole) and had no taste whatsoever with the awful crab (???) filling, and the scallops were just ok. What is the cardinal sin when cooking fish people? RIGHT...over cooking! All in all, my dining experience was pretty awful along with the overpriced, badly executed food and cooking. What a shame it is to serve this kind of garbage to your customers. Please address the food problem you obviously have Martini's, because the restaurant could be a decent place IF you start cooking from scratch (like advertised) and serve entrees that are freshly cooked and stop serving reheated leftovers.

First & Only Visit

Over 28 minutes to get dinner. Wife's order was incorrect and luke warm. My Blackened Chicken sandwich was actually room temperature and the bacon on it was cold, but the bland sweet potato fries were hot! Service was ok but obviously not good enough to bring out food when it was hot and ready. Flavor of cold food was ok but nothing great. Our first and last trip to this establishment

Horrible. Demeaning. Will treat you bad.will be told you can't afford a 20 dollar meal

Food was terrible. Expressed my concerns with management and was told I probably couldn't afford to eat there.Manager is disrespectful rude and pompous.Do not eat here unless you want to be dissatisfied. Unless they fix management place will close .No wonder it was empty on a Saturday night when the rest of valpo is packed.

Disappointed

I have reviewed this place before and really liked it. Unfortunately something has changed. I ordered the perch, as always, but this time the perch was fried to a crisp, not pan fried. My daughter's shrimp were as well. The Greek pork chops were tasty I was told and the prime rib sandwich with onion rings looked great. The service was good. If we return I will have to adjust my expectations and skip the seafood section

After another restaurant cancelled our reservation for our large group we called multiple local restaurants. Sophie at Martinis stepped up and went the extra mile. She printed up special menus for our group. The staff was kind and attentive. The meal was good and the desserts were amazing. We had a great time! Thank you!

Great Food, remember this isn't a "fast food" restaurant.

The food and service were great! However, it was s-l-o-w. As long as you know that upfront, and aren't an "instant satisfaction" diner, you will enjoy Martinis. There was a decent sized crowd, as it was Friday (and it was my birthday). All 4 of us were very satisfied with our food. I will definitely return. Recommend the Souvlaki and Seafood Risotto.

Early dinner

We have been here several times and we're always satisfied. During COVID it was a bit indifferent, but who wasn't! This time everything was spot on! Food was good, gyro and grilled chicken on focaccia. Dessert was our favorite, cheesecake and tiramisu. Our server was timely and polite.

Good food great service

Can here with family and ate in the dining room. Had a big selection on the menu. I had fish Perch and my Husband had steak. both were good. Had a choice of salad or soup and I had the salad which was also good. We also had a choice of potatoes and the meal came with asparagus too! added vegetable. Like that the meal wasn't el cart, which many of the new restaurants are turning to. They service was very good and we will be coming back. really enjoyed the evening and the food.

Great place for a birthday celebration!

Fabulous! Celebrated my son’s 30th Birthday here, and the food, drinks, and service were wonderful! Jen did such a great job waiting and on our group of >20 after 8:30 PM. Highly recommend Martinis!!

Convenience Makes This Place OK

I have been here several times in the last couple of months. As a whole I have to say that it is not on my favorite list in the area. Some good points - they have a very nice outside seating area and a rather large bar area. Their cocktails are very good according to my friends. There is enough parking unlike a lot of restaurants in the downtown area. And the staff have always been pleasant. However, I found the perch to be over-breaded and over-cooked. The last time (in May) a Greek salad came without feta cheese. How can you be a Greek restaurant and be out of feta cheese on a Friday night before 6 p.m.? I also thought they could offer better salads. I think they are typical of Greek restaurants in the area. The menu is too huge. They should scale it down and make the remaining dishes very well. The parking area is strange as you usually have to park in the back and then walk all the way around to the front. I've been there in snow and rain and it's a pain. I will go back but more for the convenience of my friends rather than the food.

We hadn't visited in quite some time. I've read many good reviews and decided to try it again. Not sad. The lamb chops were delicious. Only complaint is you still can smell smoke from the front which allows smoking.

We have eaten here several times of the years and always been happy with the food, drinks and service. Good entertainment on the weekend just makes it better. Will bee eating there again soon
