Maybe it was because we were super hungry and both craving egg rolls, but this food hit the spot. We ordered egg rolls, crab rangoon and shrimp toast. All were very good. We had Shrimp with garlic sauce and Beef with garlic sauce and an...order of shrimp fried rice. Both dishes said they were spicy, however neither were spice at all, still tasty though. I wish the shrimp fried rice would have had a few more veggies in it. Fast friendly service, we will go back.More

Portions are generous and food is average, OK but nothing special. Egg Rolls are really spring rolls. Rice Cake dish is mostly rice cakes. Empress Shrimp should have had shrimp and sauce packed separately. All arrived soggy. Nothing "non standard" on the menu except a...very few items on the special menu. We have been there a few times while traveling through Indiana. The food is standard Chinese-American, but the service is excellent, the ambience is nice, and the portions are always generous.

I stopped in for lunch. As others have noted, their prices for lunch are quite good. I had Generals Tso's chicken with an egg drop soup, an egg role, and rice. The soup was excellent. The egg role was greasy and over cooked. The General...Tso's chicken was okay but had too much sauce relative to the chicken and seemed unusually thick. The service was excellent.More

This is one of those great old-fashioned kind of Chinese restaurants. Nice selection of food, a full bar and good service. HUGE portions and the food is tasty. I'd go back.

We chose a carry out dinner for New Years Eve. Our order was for Moo Shu chicken and Ho Ping Special Lo Mein. The food was great and a large portion as well.

Service and food is always outstanding. On many occasions just stop for takeout. Doesn't make any difference whether eat in or take out, food is great.

I love going to Ho Ping House in northern part of South Bend. They specialize in traditional & modern Mandarin Chinese food. My sister, bil & I visited Ho Ping after a visit to Notre Dame. Their soups are delicious; I've had egg drop &...hot & sour. All of their ingredients, especially the vegetables are always fresh & not overcooked. This time I had the snow peas & vegetables in ginger sauce. My bil had snow peas with chicken in ginger sauce & my sister had shrimp & broccoli in brown sauce. I was traveling for business and wanted something close to ND. This was a solid option for standard chinese fare. Plenty of options and priced reasonably. Food was very good and fast.
