Outstanding. Simply outstanding. Even on a repeat visit (see below). We're attending an event in Louisville, and wanted to catch up with an old friend from the area over dinner (6/24/2022). The Exchange Pub & Kitchen came up in a search, was relatively close (12...minutes from The Galt House, no tolls), and in an early-morning "find my way" visit, exhibited good parking and a funky late 19th Century exterior. We called to make a reservation for 7:15 p.m., but later called to move it up to 5:30, as our friend was an early riser. No problem - our request was immediately accommodated. Due to traffic on the I-64 bridge over the Ohio River, we ran a few minutes late. Another phone call to tell them we were on our way - no problem! We pulled into an empty parking spot on the street, made our way to the entrance, and were immediately taken to our booth. May we have a table instead? Again, absolutely no problem. Our server, Tyler, took drink orders, returned in no time with the drinks (spouse had a superb Paso Robles Merlot from Grayson Vineyards) and with water all around and soft drinks for those of us not imbibing (during dinner, he kept the refills coming on the non-alcoholic drinks). We picked three items from the varied menu: Yakisoba with added Atlantic Shrimp, Smoked Salmon Salad, and The Chop, a large porkchop with roasted veggies (including roasted radishes - a treat!). We had the grilled asparagus to share (though we all shared nibbles of each others' entrees). While waiting (not long) for our dishes, I asked the folks at the front about the history of the building, which they very capably provided. By the time I got back to the table, the dishes had arrived. Every single thing we received was absolutely delicious. The manager (owner?) stopped by to see how we were doing, and we happily shared our delight in the food and service. Tyler stopped by frequently, observed subtle cues and anticipated our needs, and couldn't have been better. During one of his later visits, he asked about dessert. The three of us shared the Bourbon Smoked Chocolate Chip Cookie (with ice cream) - which came out molten, and was happily devoured as well. All in all, we were extremely happy with our dinner. In fact, we were so happy, that my spouse and I stopped in on Saturday (6/25/22) for lunch. We were again immediately seated, and were visited by Alyssa, who impressed the heck out of us with her professionalism. We ordered a soft drink and a water, then the Thai Coconut Mussels, and a Cobb salad with added chicken. Again, outstanding food and outstanding service. The coconut milk and spicing for the mussels were amazing. The blackened chicken added a nice touch to the Cobb salad. Neither of us could finish our dishes (we took the wonderful ciabatta bread with us, as well as the last soft drink refill in a to-go cup). Alyssa, like Tyler, was incredibly tuned in to subtle cues, and appeared just in time, but not imposingly at all. Alyssa provided even more background on The Exchange, as well as their sister fine-dining restaurant, Brooklyn And The Butcher, nearby. Alyssa described the Sunday Brunch at Brooklyn And The Butcher so invitingly, we have reservations for Sunday morning (6/26/2022) there on our way to the airport and home to Southern California. Now, if we could only find a couple of restaurants with food and staff like these in Thousand Oaks!More

We ate dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. All 4 of us had different menu options and we shared. From pork belly to wagyu beef to shrimp and French fries....it was delicious.

Really fun location and NA needs some more nice restaurants and bars like this. Very good service and reasonable prices. We went with 2 other couples making a total of 6. Everyone ordered something different. The stuffed mushroom appetizers were darn good, but the home...made beer cheese was a home run. Some of the folks at the table had never had beer cheese and were in awe. It isn’t something you will find on menus where they live in Florida. Anyone who was around the area when Kunz’s The Dutchman was a landmark on 4th Street in Louisville will understand. The entrees were all just OK, nothing special. No one ooh’d or ahh’d over their meal. Also, really good craft beer selection. I’ll go back.More

I think this is one of the few restaurants with a view of the Sherman Minton Bridge. The food we had was pretty good. My wife and I both had the fish and chips and our friend had grilled cheese. The Cole slaw we had...with our fish was some of the best. The interior was inviting and our server was helpful to us. Definitely a place to visit again.More

Starter Goat cheese fritters were light and yummy. Our server Taylor suggested these to us.She was spot on with all her great service through our entire meal. Quick service noted. We were impressed with the spinach salad as side salad as well as their house....This house had peeled cheese, radishes, edame. Mixed greens and was just the right sz. Wide choice of various dressing, not just the common ones Entrees were equally superb. I was satisfied and ate al my salmon Primavera. The zucchini, angel hair and the balsalmic flavoring were tasty. Hubby had the"exchange" burger He substituted the veggie of the day with brussel sprouts roasted with cheese, they tasted good just a bit to much cheese for his liking. Atmosphere was cool. Fun neat things used to convert this old building. Loved it all better than casino food for sure!!More

Great place to have lunch in New Albany, across the river from Louisville. Plenty of outdoor seating with overhead coverings. Food was outstanding, particularly the blueberry brie grilled cheese. The bar cheese served with the pretzels was Intentionally served cold, which I would’ve preferred for...it to be served hot. The vegan member in our group enjoyed the impossible burger. Great service, would happily return to again.More

We arrived at around 7PM on a Saturday night without reservations. The wait was going to be 30 minutes. We looked around the area and sat in the waiting area. A reservation canceled and we waited 20 minutes to get a table. Once seated, we...were served drinks quickly and our orders taken promptly. Our food was delicious. Everyone had a burger. We were stuffed with no room for dessert, unfortunately. We would go back again when in the area.More

We have been to the Exchange numerous times over the years and the food and service has always been excellent until recently. The new bar tender is not in tune with his customers. Empty drinks, no water, and your food getting cold while you wait...for him to refill your drinks and the bar is barley full.More

We ordered online when we were in Louisville and came to pick it up on our way home. When we arrived, our food was not quite ready and took longer than we expected, but the employees were quite courteous and checked on me often while...I waited! When we received our food, it was delicious! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her steak frites, and I enjoyed my burger that was mixed with 25% mushroom and 75% beef. We will definitely be back!More

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner with friends so much that about a week later we returned for lunch. The menu items are served as described but substitutions are allowed with an upcharge for most. The food is well prepared with special attention to...appearance, the servers are friendly but professional with an excellent knowledge of the menu, last but not least is value. This is were I took a star away. I understand value depends on the individual and only you can judge if the cost of something is worth what you pay for it. I'll use this as an example, the lunch menu and the dinner menu items are the same price, a 16.00 burger for dinner is the same 16.00 at lunch and can be as much as 20.00 if substituting for the fries. Is it a good burger? You bet, but I know a lot of places you can get a good burger for half that price. The Exchange is a place I'll keep on my list for special occasions.More

Loved the openness of their restaurant area, and there were plenty of people eating outside, too. Everyone socially distanced. My husband had the steak and spinach sandwich which had a generous meat portion, and very tasty. I ordered the artichoke and mushroom hoagie with goat...cheese which was drool-worthy. Both of us thought the bread was wonderful and light. We had zucchini, fries, and their signature Exchange Rate brown ale. Excellent service and great value!More

We decided stay in New Albany on our way home to Georgia. The front desk attendant at the Fairfield Inn suggested this local restaurant. Wow! This obviously is our first visit. Very nice patio. Nice wine selections. Great choices of entrees. We had a great...server - DaSean. I had the Nashville hot chicken which is delicious! My wife had the wedge salad and pork belly and watermelon which she enjoyed. Highly recommend. We will be back when we pass through.More
