Way off the beaten path....dark and dingy....not well kept...landscaping a mess... We had catfish fried and grilled filets...grilled had a musty taste...fried were frozen out of a box (my guess) Cracker Barrel has far superior catfish. Sides were....salad...good portion...mostly the not so nice pieces of lettuce..1 piece of onion...few croutons...no tomatoes...drenched in dressing...yesterdays baked potato, hard and turning dark....steak fries....very... Mr and Mrs Skinner - thank you for taking the time to review Oakdale after your visit Sunday afternoon. I'm sorry your experience at our Family Restaurant prompted a negative review. I do want to clarify just a few items. We purchase only USA Farm Raised Grain Fed Catfish from Mississippi - whether it is ordered fried, grilled, blackened, cajun,... More

The service is excellent, we like the casual, friendly atmosphere, and the food is always excellent. We don't even get a menu, they know what we want!

This is a local's hangout, and with good reason. Catfish, fries, burgers, beer, fun people, near the lake. All good stuff. Now, this isn't a fancy place, so come casual, comfortable, and ready to just kick back and have a good time. Like I said, all the locals know this one, so sit and talk with someone. I'll bet they... We travel from the middle of Lake Shafer to the Oakdale Dam Inn for the friendly atmosphere, good food, attentive staff and cold beer.

Ok very average looking place when you pull in the parking lot. Let me start by saying the place is clean and the service was above average. Now for the food. On a 5 scale. Salad 2.5, catfish 3, steak 3.5 onion rings 2.5 . My opinion is overpriced. 2 piece whole fish meal 14.95. Now if you want to... More

We've been visiting Oakdale Dam Inn for 30 years. In the past it has been a favorite place to meet friends in the Monticello area. In the summer you must have reservations most nights. The menu has a good mix of steaks, chicken, pasta, and fish. We came this time on a Wednesday in October. There were only about 20... More

Good food - good service! What more could one ask for! Difficult to find but worth the search! Catfish is what most people go for but the tenderloin sandwiches and daily specials are a good bet!

Must say I do like their catfish fillets. Even love the seating and atmosphere. But if you try to go during the summer boating and fishing season, it can be a pain to get there and once there, it can be more painful getting in. This can be a very popular place at certain times.

There are a couple of reasons this establishment doesn't get a 5 ranking for me. But before I get to those, the food was tasty, ambiance down-home Indiana, and our server pleasant and good at her job - almost: When I had already finished my meal, I overheard another server describing that evening's menu specials to a different table. I... More

I am happy to report that our Family Bathroom remodel was completed during our Annual Shutdown... we now have a ramp, inswing 36" doors, and electrical switches on the outside ! Added new ceramic tile too. Would love to have you come back and give us some feedback. Thank You again, Leslie. More
