We went for our wedding lunch with 11 family members. My wife called a week in advance to discuss the food as 5 of us were vegetarians. We were told that we would be accommodated and that special vegetarian options would be provided. On arrival, we were told that no-one knew about this arrangement. The manager was off-duty. Staff poorly... More

The food was out of this world - produce picked fresh from the Babylonstoren gardens. The cuisine is well paired with the wine. Beware the starters could be whole meals but so well worth it. We had the haloumi salad starter, lamb and trout mains and the kids had trout and potato wedges - food was amazing. Will tantalize your... More

One of those experiences where you don't expect much but then get totally blown away by some unreal and unbelievable flavor combinations. All produce come from the farm itself which adds to an awesome food experience! Excellent service! Can really recommend this! Had the squid starter while my wife and kids had fish (trout) mains and I had the risotto... More

Experience creative and fresh combination of their menu; harvested right there on the farm. Each dish is a good size portion. The combinations seem strange, they are however amazing – beautifully presented and delicious! Book your table well in advance as they are extremely popular. Also spend the day there, a long leisurely lunch with a walk through their gardens... More

While visiting the gardens, we stopped for a drink that transformed into lunch. Service from every person on the staff was top notch. The cheese and meat platter was super yummy and drinks (G&T for myself) were also must tries. If you visit the wine region, please stop there. You won't regret it.

Another visit for lunch since its opening a few years ago and again the tasty fresh mix of vegetables and fruit on every dish continue to work both visually and with taste. We were there for the Autumn menu and had the yellow starter, baby chicken and beef for mains and a couple of desserts plus wine for less than... More

This restaurant is so beautiful-contemporary yet country. Fresh veggie platter from the garden to enjoy with your homemade hummus dips. Dessert by far trumped the mains and was artistically presented. To top off our special day, I was gifted with gorgeous flowers from the garden!

The meals on offer at Babel are all about celebrating what they produce on the farm (or on others nearby) and the starters are a real testimony to this. Simple colour choices on the menu indicate that type of ingredients that will make up the dish of complete freshness and definitely an indication of the season that we visited -... More

Our 3,5 hectare garden truly is the heart of the farm and every aspect of Babylonstoren – including the contemporary Farm Hotel & Spa, the Farm Shop and Bakery – are led by the ever-changing tapestry and botanical diversity of the garden. Best wishes, Lize and the Babel team More

We had the most incredible 3 course lunch here. The food is fresh and mostly grown on the farm. The whole experience is a food lovers idea of heaven! We matched the wines which was great and they were so delicious! You do need to pre book and allow a good 2-3 hours for one of the best lunches you... More

The food is all about producing on the farm or locally - and you can taste it with every bite. Not a dud dish. I remember good Ny a few years ago when they first opened but wow have they taken it to new heights. The intensity of the freshness of ingredients is stunning. I am super impressed and must... More

Housed in an old cow shed, Babel is a wonderful mix of Cape Dutch architecture with contemporary glass walls that makes for a simple yet edgy environment in which to try our tasty yet often unconventional combinations. We have a farm-to-fork philosophy, which means we like to serve food that is seasonal and that reflects our "pick, clean and serve" approach. Because our menu is guided by what is available in the garden, our food always reflects the season, and so in summer we may serve you a yellow salad of pineapple, gooseberries, granadillas, yellow tomatoes and apricots while in winter a slow-cooked leg of lamb in red wine is more likely. Dessert subscribes to four flavours, namely salty, bitter, sweet and sour. And while our meals are creative, we don't like to tamper unduly with our food. Our meals are always clear in structure, so that fruit and vegetables gathered daily from the garden is often served with its skin on. Helpings are generous and depending on the weather you can take your meal in the glass-enclosed restaurant or under the plane trees in the courtyard.
