A family group of 15 ate lunch here Oct. 2. We had a reservation and we were seated promptly at 1:00 pm. My sister and I had eaten here occasionally since about 1950, and it was always a special occasion. The other 13 in the family had not eaten here before, and all seemed to enjoy it. There are about... More

So we had a family wedding and several flew in from around the country and wanted to go here because they had Sunday dinner here in the early sixties and wanted to relive it. So we got an invitation for 15 on Sunday to go to the Iron Skillet. I had to read it twice and sent a text to... More

Who would ve thought that this gas station/truck shop/restaurant would be so good! I know right?! I know what your thinking. It's a small quaint, but clean and flavorful buffet. Instead of plates you eat out of small "iron skillets" they kept the good fresh and maintained it well. The service was very friendly. I was quite surprised. My family was... More

Old establishment with lots of character. Subtle elegance. People are charming. The food compliments the atmosphere.

I make it a point when visiting relatives to get to the Iron Skillet. Not going to be blown away by the décor but the food and the staff are what makes this a great place. As usual the fried chicken is the star, but as mentioned in other reviews the starters are also very good. The ice cream with... More

Very nice setting. Food well prepared and ample. Served on tables with table cloths and cloth napkins. Great restaurant to celebrate a special event for the family. Eaten there many times and will continue to do so.

When we arrived, our table was ready with cottage cheese, beets and apple butter (had reservations). The menu is not extensive, but offers several types of meats (fish, shrimp, chicken, beef) and all entrees come with mashed potatoes, corn and green beans, served family style. My husband ordered the fish and I had the combination plate to sample all the... More

From the moment you drive up to the stately home that, years ago, was transformed into a lovely restaurant, you are in for a treat. Sitting atop a hill at 30th & Cold Springs Rd, the Iron Skillet is easily accessible from all around Indy & beyond. A group of 9 friends met for a late lunch & it was... More

We have been coming here for 20 years now. The best fried chicken on the planet! The family style serving is reminiscent of decades ago dining. Awesome staff that bends over backwards to exceed your expectations!
