I used to go to Joe's at least monthly-but since moving from Indy we do not go anymore-until this week. First the positive - the salsa. It is still fantastic from the squeeze bottle. The salsa in the bowl is a nice addition. My go to item is the burrito. Sorry to say it is not close to what it... More

After a long walk around the Capitol building and a local war statue we made our way to this restaurant. We walked in the door at 8:58 and the sign said closing time was 9:00. They welcomed us and asked that we order fairly quickly since they were closing. We ordered margaritas which were good and then our food. Our... More

My hubby and I found this gem of a dive when hubby was attending Dental School at IUPUI back in the 90's. We were weekly regulars through his college years, and when we moved back home to Michigan, we REALLY missed our Acapulco's. So much so, that any time we are remotely near Indy, we make sure to stop in... More

Great food, great Queso Cheese you have to try this, margaritas were awesome and potent no lack of good juice in them. Tostadas are awesome and usually one will do, my friend had the Chimmy and it was awesome as well. Staff friendly, salsa is a liquid type sauce not your typical salsa but is really really good on the... More

Not what I expected or wanted. This is not what huevos rancheros look, taste or even should be. I was happy to go here because my brother had such a high opinion of Acapulco Joe's. He is biased. He loves this place but especially loves how it use to be.

I work near this restaurant and have always wanted to go but my co workers said it wasn't very good. Went for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Had the 3 tacos. They have bottles of home made sweet and spicy hot sauce on the tables. They also have really good Tuesday lunch specials.

We went there after visiting a museum. The place is a funky dinner like place. We have been eating there for 40 years. The service and food was good. I like their margaritas they have liquor in them unlike other places that are almost all mix and not much tequila. I had the crispy tacos and my husband had fajitas.... More

We live nearby and I thought how bad can it be? Well, it is bad, really bad. What a shame, nice location. It would be great to have a more traditional (Americanized) go to Mexican place downtown.

AJ's used to be very popular in Indy, when Joe R. was in charge of the kitchen, and there wasn't much competition. Now - it's terrible. Doesn't matter what you order because it all looks the same. And take a look in the kitchen (through the window). It is disgusting. I would never eat here again.

Me and the Mrs and 2 kids got 3 reg. dinners, 1 kids meal... AND NOTHING ELSE (no beers, no cokes, no apps) for well over $50 including tip. Ok it's downtown Indy so the price wouldn't be terrible except the food WAS terrible, and the service comes with attitude (and not dishes for the salsa, you have to ask... More

Description
Spicier than a Habanero pepper is our passion for great Mexican food. Despite having a deep love for the cuisine, simply cooking and eating it wasn't enough for us, and after becoming master chefs, all we wanted to do was share our food. Acapulco Joe's was established out of a desire to share. Since opening more than 50 years ago, we striven to bring the best of Mexican cuisine to all those who have been willing to try it. That's why we're Indianapolis' first Mexican Restaurant, we wanted to expose the north to the cuisine of the South.

Within Mexican cuisine, we specialize in cuisine from the Western Coast. We're different from the average Mexican Restaurant, with everything from the way we prepare our food to the spices we source for authenticity.

We invite you to come take that first bite and forget where in the world you are for a meal, let us take you on a culinary journey through Mexico.
