Food: I have fairly high expectations of Ethiopian food as I've lived near a solid restaurant before, and I've been to Ethiopia a few times as well. This restaurant was not bad, but usually Ethiopian food sings to me, and this time it didn't. The...Injera was delicious, but the dishs served atop were just fine. But no music. The honey wine was also delicious--well worth trying. Service: Great service, and the food surprised me at how fast it came out. Value: I walked out of there with a $30 tab for dining alone. I felt it was a little overpriced. Decor: The interior is nice, and typical of other Ethiopian restaurants I have been in. The exterior a little less so.More

The food was delicious! We loved the coffee and popcorn that came after the meal. Seriously, the coffee was so so good. 👍🏻👍🏻

During covid staying at hotel airport searched dinner options nearby. Found Major Restaurant to be a quick drive for vegetarian food. They also have meat options. The vegetarian combo has many tastes and more than enough food for one. Order a combo if new to...Ethiopian food. All delicious! Recommend that you consider this restaurant if staying at the rather sterile hotel options near the airport. Owner couldn't have been nicer.More

We tried Major's because of a Groupon and have been back MANY times. Try a combo platter and you cannot go wrong. Shady part of town, but we have never had any issues. We've been often enough that they ask about our grown kids when...they aren't there with us. It takes a little while for your food to be prepared, but that is because some of it is made to order. Definitely worth it! (And if you have a large party and know what you will be ordering, they will allow you to order ahead and reserve a table for you to speed up the process!)More

A large group (>20) enjoyed this cross cultural experience. I can say that the experience was better than the food. The service was good, and the servers were very friendly. I found the food to be mediocre compared to the Ethiopian food I've experienced twice...previously in Africa. Meat was sparce, and spices were strong and plentiful.More

There are several Ethiopian restaurants in Indianapolis but Major is by far the most welcoming and inviting. The hosts will educate you about Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine. You will be impressed by the flavors which enhance the vegetables, lamb, chicken and beef on the extensive menu. Do...take time for the unique "Coffee Celebration" Take it in the Coffee lounge where you might learn something about Eritrean life and customs. This young couple deserves your visit. You will return!More

The food here is out of this world. Prices are good too for what you get. Service is slow, otherwise I would give 5 stars instead of 4.

Well I no longer have to worry about plain food in the Midwest. Visiting Indiana and I have discovered there is a lot of Ethiopian food. And we are at Major restaurant having a wonderful meal. The owner took special care of us bringing us...some spices we love and bringing me the hot water that I love. Had shiro and a mushroom dish and of course lots of Injera. Try it. Very easy to get to from the airport.More

We enjoyed an excellent meal. They were very kid friendly. We were just in Ethiopia three months before. The music and decor and ambiance and, most importantly, the food made us feel like we were back there. It was an outstanding meal. We chose a...four dishes for four adults and two children. It was presented on injerra with other veggies included. Extra injerra was also provided. Delicious!More

Don't be put off by the shabby, dusty exterior of the building. Inside, you're in Ethiopia amidst tasteful art and clean tables ready for seating. Each table holds a waterless hand sanitizer next to the napkin dispenser. Waited about 20 minutes for my meal to...be served. Ordered a combination plate of lamb prepared three ways accompanied by five vegetables. Portions were slightly on the shy side. Expect plenty of Injira, the tortilla-like bread made from Teff, a protein and a carbohydrate. If you have not yet experienced Ethiopian cuisine, this is not Indian food, it is strictly Ethiopian with hot and spicy or mild whatever you want. This cuisine is always made fresh so worth the 20 minute wait. See their website, call ahead with your order and eat in peace and luxury. Loved it. Highly recommend the place. It is clean. BTW, you eat Ethiopian with your fingers and Teff, (or cheat and bring a fork). Enjoy.More

We visited this restaurant on a family outing after reading a lot of high reviews. We started with the lentil sambusa and the cabbage/carrot sambusa. They came with two spicy dipping sauces. They were extremely delicious and hot and the best we have tasted at...any restaurant. We tried the Ethiopian Chai tea which was also delicious. Two of us had the vegetarian dishes; one had lentils (#14 Ye Misir Wot) and one had (#22 Ding Alicha Wot) potatoes and carrots. One had chicken (#28 Doro Awaze Tips) and one had lamb (#34 Ye Beg Wot). You could tell that everything was freshly cooked and very well done too. All meat and chicken was very tender. The spices used are very flavorful and delicious. The interior is decorated very nicely and traditional music is playing in the background. Very friendly and helpful staff! Will definitely go back!!More
