My review will be the 129th one. Out of all of those, this will be their 115th five star review so that should tell you something. I mean this completely when I say that this was one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at....Period. We had reservations for 8 of us late at night on a Thursday night and the entire restaurant was full. We were brought to a beautiful private room. I don't know how we lucked out in getting that, but it made an excellent experience even better. Our server was wonderful and very attentive. We ordered several appetizers, all of which were great. One of the appetizers was shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were literally the largest shrimp I've ever seen. With it was a cocktail sauce that had a lot of horseradish sauce in it. Apparently this is a regional thing to have extra horseradish in it but I will say of all the restaurants we ate at that week, this was the tamest one. If you don't like it tame, it comes with an additional ramekin of horseradish. I don't know if it's specifically because we ordered shrimp or that's just what they do after appetizers, but they gave us each a plate with a warm/damp towel and a lemon wedge on it to cleanse our hands. Everybody in the group ordered a steak and they all loved it. I was the outlier and ordered veal which was just wow. I'm shaking my head writing this just thinking about how good it was. The eye appeal on everything was perfect. We had several sides for the table as well, all of which were wonderful. We all had numerous rounds of drinks which were good. We all ordered dessert too which we shouldn't have but were all glad we did because it was all delicious. This is a fancy restaurant so obviously it's expensive, but the experience and quality of food you get is well worth the money. If you need a restaurant for an anniversary, to propose, to impress, a birthday, anything fancy, please do yourself a favor and eat here. Just make sure you make a reservation plenty of time in advance so you can get in. Thank you, Tony's, for an incredible experience!More
Make a reservation and ask for MOURAD he is an amazing server. The staff and managers make you feel like royalty. This is my favorite place in Indiana to go to. The food is always great and the service is second to none.
Went with the wife for a celebratory dinner back in February and it was a truly great meal. Server was Jay and from start to finish his service was impeccable but what was better was that everyone who supported was just as good. We started...with the crab cake which was literally the best I have ever eaten. It’s one crab cake but easily big enough to share. The wife had the the braised short rib and the meat could have been cut by a strong breeze it was so tender! I had the filet and again one of the best eaten. Honestly great meal all round.More
I hosted a business dinner for 5. We were welcomed sincerely and promptly seated. I was impressed from the bread, appetizers, entrees and dessert. Everything was correctly prepared, well presented and delicious. It’s sort of silly to rave about bread, but that is killer and...that bourbon butter is ridiculously good. It’s a little pricey even for a downtown steakhouse. But everyone in my group was impressed with the food and the service so it was worth every dollar.More
My husband and I arrived at Tony’s and was met by the host and several others greeting us with a Happy Birthday to my husbands 80th. We had wonderful service and meal. A big thank you to the staff of Tony’s for a great evening.
Bill Turner served us exceptionally well very attentive and upbeat as was his helper Ryan. On arrival many staff members wished us happy anniversary (I had called in advance to let them know when I made the reservation) but still it was super nice especially...when the manger (Mike? ) came over calling me by my name. . Had to wait at the bar as we were 15 -20 min early. No biggy. The venue is beautiful modern.More
The ambiance is ok. Servers aim to please. Food is good, but not 130 a plate good. There are better options nearby. Won't go back when in town.
I have eaten at Tony’s numerous times and chalked up my last meal there over the summer to simply being short staffed. Unfortunately a return visit there simply reinforced my prior visit that the quality of food and service has simply gone into decline. Our...server was slow in her efforts and it was 15 minutes from when my way over cooked steak was delivered to our table before she came back to see the issues. A second steak was delivered which was clearly rushed that it was burned and dry. The tuna appetizer continues to be spot on and is a must try. The sea bass that was ordered was flavorless and Luke warm but again, the server was not present. Bill was $600 for the four of us without my steak being charged so it is pricey and my last two experiences here left me surprised as how such a fantastic place when it opened, is now a shadow of its old self.More
I had a great solo dinner here back in June 2022 before heading back to California via Amtrak. As someone who grew up in Indy going to the "famous" steakhouse down the street, it was nice to see another downtown and just as delicious -...if not better. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the charming conversation with the bar staff and also met a really cool couple that I ended up sharing drinks and laughs with. I started with a glass of prosecco (would have rather seen Champagne available by the glass, honestly, or a nice California sparkler like Roederer. I've come to accept Indiana is prosecco country!) which was OK. I had a half bottle of Duckhorn Merlot for dinner, which always hits the spot. For a starter, I had the HUGE crabcake - largest I've ever had! Pure crab and no filler. For my entree, I asked the bartender if a petite filet was available (it's not on the menu) and he went to the kitchen and asked the Chef is a small cut was available - it was! My steak was perfectly medium rare with a side of yummy fried onions. I also enjoyed mashed potatoes with it. Tony's is a beautiful restaurant and well worth the visit for business, special occasions, or a "treat yo'self" dinner. I'll be back when visiting Indy again.More
An all-around excellent meal. Service, food and atmosphere were all outstanding. We skipped appetizers and got salads instead. It was good, but it’s a salad - as long as it’s not terrible, who cares? The table got 2 ribeyes, 1 fillet and 1 rack of...lamb. Sides were a baked potato, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. These were all fine, but they’re sides - again, if they’re not terrible, who cares (for the record they loved the sprouts, I prefer them a little less-cooked). The steaks were the stars of the show. Well prepared and well seasoned, one of the best steaks I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. The one who got the lamb said it was also perfectly cooked and seasoned. Desserts for the table were sponge cake and a très leches cake. Both very good. My $.02? Go with the sponge - it was insanely good. My only “complaint” was the price - with the tip (and I must say the service spot-on) it came to $200/person (salads/entrees/2 desserts/2 drinks-per-person/1 dessert port). Not a cost I could incur on a regular basis, but I walked away happy - definitely one of the best meals out I’ve had in quite a while.More
I decided to go to Tony's based on online reviews during the Gallaher Grand Prix weekend. Our sever, Bill, greeted us warmly and explained everything on the menu. He was very attentive but not obtrusive. Michael, the manager, came by and spoke with us as...well. He was extremely nice and helpful for us making future reservations at Tony's. Now on to the food. We started with the Mussels. The Mussels came out in an absolutely huge pot and were paired excellently with a tomato based broth and chorizo sausage. We couldn't finish the whole thing. My wife got the short ribs with horseradish potatoes, and I got the 22 ounce bone-in ribeye. The short ribs were a large portion with enough potatoes for us to share. The short ribs were perfectly cooked, tender and made for a great second day meal. The ribeye was probably if not the best steak I have ever had out. Cooked medium to release more of the marbling into the meat made the flavoring incredible. Again, there was enough for a second day meal. We passed on dessert due to the large portions. To top the evening off there was a jazz combo playing which was very good and just the right volume. A wonderful evening of great and friendly service, great wine, great music and incredible food all made for a very memorable experience. Thank you Tony's of Indianapolis!More
We visited the evening of race day. We called to get a table but were told they were fully booked. As we like to sit at the bar, we and there is often space available, we called back. Jared handled my wife’s call, told her...space would be available. We arrived and were given a table in the bar area, complete with my wife’s name on table card. We had a wonderful meal, the salmon with an excellent Sauvignon Blanc. Service was outstanding. Could n to have been a better ending to the day!More
This weekend I visited for the 5th time. This is the best steakhouse in Indianapolis. Probably the best in the US. It is worth a special trip.
Nice selection on the menu of many options for nearly anyone. The steaks were cooked exactly as requested. Service was on top of everything and the various sides were delicious. Definitely recommend!
