Cool little place on 16th St just east of the Monon Trail. This is not your normal Mexican place. I never expected ribs to be on the menu so I ordered a half rack. OMG - these were so good. Super tender and fall off...the bone. The sauce was also unexpected- it was sweet, but not in a bad way Made this dish like meat candy! So good. Now the street tacos were also different. They serve you with ingredients separated and you build your own soft taco. The shredded beef came in a small clay pot , that kept the meat warm and juicy. Almost too wet? Although the meat was tender and it seemed to work well the flavor was off. It was more like a stew flavor with no pop or zing. That was the only downside to the visitMore

First time there and parking took a while to figure out. Next street east is easy walk. Parking on 16th is fine after 6. Food was excellent. Devour Indy package was well worth it. You can tell homemade guacamole. Very good. The chicken enchiladas were...fantastic and desert was just the right amount. We will be back.More

Just terrible service. The food wasn't too bad. I went in for a meal after work with coworkers. I saw what I assumed was the owner yelling at one of his younger female staff. Super uncomfortable to watch, the server just cowered in eaeshot of...the customers. Just disappointed that people in this day and age can treat their staff like that.More

Nothing like we expected. We are first-time visitors to Indianapolis here for business and several local friends suggested Festiva. It was way better and more fun than expected. It is like a funky hole-in-the-wall serving creative Mexican fare. We actually own a restaurant in Mexico...and we surely loved this visit, the food and the folks! Miriam the hostess and manager was a gem. She our new best friend! Along with bartenders Russ and Justin, we had a grand time! We sat at one of the bar windows. We had chip, two kinds of salsa and guacamole for openers (and yes...definitely one of the best and most unique guacamoles we have ever had!). My wife ordered the masa and guisano. I had the shredded beef enchiladas and a side order of papas and rajas (potatoes and sweet chili peppers). They were excellent and we couldn't finish the portions! Russ and Justin kept us hydrated! Russ made me (honest!) the best paloma with mescal that I have ever had (remember we live in Mexico and have our own bar and restaurant!). My wife had some excellent skinny margaritas. We had so much fun, we bought the whole staff and round of tequila and mescal shots with us. Wish we lived closer. This would be our new go-to-hangout. Thanks for the great evening and experience, folks! Can't wait to come back!More

We waiting a long time for the table. We ordered margaritas (which were watered down), fish tacos and chicken enchiladas. Everything was mediocre and the service was incredibly rude. Darn! I used to like this place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. We had shrimp and pork tacos - which were delicious. We also ordered carne asada which was good. Don't miss out on the salsa and queso, yum. We finished the meal with churros and the 1921 dessert cocktail, yum-o. We...will be back.More

Extremely rude management and poor service. Highly priced, below average food. I’ll never be back and never have a good thing to say about this establishment.

I have been waiting for them to open for lunch. ( It used to only be a dinner locale). YEAH! They are open. There is little else in this area which already given them a leg up, However they don't need it They are wonderful...in their own right. Parking is easy in the lot to the east of the building. Service was spot on. Staff was knowledgeable and quite nice. the lunch special is a deal The soup was tasty. The al pastor tacos were good. The side of beans was AMAZING. I could eat nothing but those beans all day. The Mexican rice was the standard. The tomatillo sauce also is a nice addition. They make their own Horchata ( There is sediment ... This could be strained out). The taste is remarkable. Water glass was refilled. There are cloth napkins (YEAH!) Utensils are real not disposable ( Yeah again). Atmosphere is Mexican side of the road cantina. I was impressed The place is clean and friendly feeling. I was waiting for a salamander to wander by or to see a cactus out the window, Last message.... GO FOR LUNCH!!! It is worth itMore

We had a party of 8 and we did not have to wait for a table. We ordered and had our food in less than 30 minutes. We all ordered different food and tried each other. Shrimp tacos, fish tacos, chicken enchiladas, and a half...rack of ribs. All were amazing!More

I was a fan of the owner's cuisine when he had a taqueria in Broad Ripple near my office, and was glad to see he decided to branch out into a sit-down establishment. I have been here half a dozen times and it is always...solid. My most recent visit stood out however. The special for the evening was a short rib that had been braised for 18 hours over a mix of peppers and onions that were then pureed into a sauce, and served with sweet potatoes blended with poblano peppers. The short rib was beyond great and I had to fight off my oldest son trying to sneak an excessive number of sample bites off my plate. The sweet potatoes were the best I have ever had - I am normally not a fan, but the heat from the peppers cut the sweetness and I could have eaten just a plate of these alone. The rest of the family was enthusiastic about their meals, with all three kids declaring it to be the best Mexican restaurant they had every eaten at. Definitely worth dinner, and I look forward to trying brunch soon.More

This is a great little spot! The building and decor are adorable. We visited during Devour Indy so we ate from that menu. We had queso, fish tacos, chicken tinga and churros and everything was great! Service was attentive and friendly, margaritas were tasty, and...we had such a nice time on their covered porch. We'll be back!More

The highlight was the watermelon on margarita, followed by the Tres Chile’s Queso and chips. The guacamole was incorporated with pomegranate seeds and jicama which were unneeded. The tamales were large but were mostly masa and little stuffing. If the lack luster door was not...enough our server was inattentive on a slow Thursday evening. I’ve been to this little neighborhood restaurant two times with great expectations and I’ve been disappointed both times. Sorry amigos I have to go elsewhere.More
