We were exploring the area on a Saturday afternoon and just wanted to see what was in Haubstadt! We saw so many cars pulling into their parking lot between 4:30 - 5:00 p.m. that we thought it was probably worth seeing was drawing them there....Like an earlier poster, we were not greeted with a warm "Welcome," but with "Do you have a Reservation??" It was busy, but obviously nowhere near capacity. We'were seated in a room that was only the two of us and at the other end a party of eight. The food was great. That's their draw. These folks know how to cook a steak exactly as you order it!! It tasted like high quality meat, and you DO pay for that! There were at least three birthday parties and possibly an anniversary, as we would hear celebrations from time to time. It did take almost two hours from seating to cashing out the check, though. Although we didn't see a help wanted sign, as in most places, the servers seemed to be moving very quickly when you saw them. And, when you pay their prices, (even with a reservation!), you don't expect to sit with an empty tea glass fo at least 15-20 mins. The insider advice is that - unlike most places - their Early Bird special is good on weekends, too. We were able to save $2 each on our meals, because the very same meal I had was on the standard dinner menu, but I had more choices for my sides than I would have had on the dinner menu!! And, we had to ask to make sure it was available, and even though we were very early in the window, our server made a production of checking the time. So, go for the food. Enjoy the age of the building, the stained glass entry doors, the "take you back in time" dark woodwork everywhere and eat well!More

We have been to the Haub House several times in the past. We don’t live close enough to regularly visit. If we are in the Evansville area, we try to have dinner there. In the past, we have always had great food and service. We...were in Evansville yesterday and decided to stop by again. I called for reservations and no one answered the phone. I checked the number, checked Google, checked their website. Everything indicated that they were open. So I called back again. No answer. I called 2 more times. Still no answer. We decided to go thinking something was wrong with their phone. We arrived around 6:30 pm. Clearly they were open. We went in and waited for the hostess. Three wait staff came through. One asked us if we had reservations. I advised we didn’t; we had tried calling for reservations, but no one answered the phone. We were then advised that they were not taking walk ins. Hmmm - if they don’t answer their phone or have a voicemail message saying they are completely booked and if they don’t take walk in customers, I suppose you must mail them a request to dine there.More

I had a craving for steak and headed for Haub House while in the area for a family visit. The overall quality is comparable to an east coast steak place with the pricing about one-third less. We started with three appetizers. The fried mushrooms were...very good and the onion rings were excellent - lightly battered and fried just right. Some of the best rings that any of us can remember eating. The bacon wrapped chicken livers had been fried a little too long and were dry. The Delmonico and six ounce filet were excellent. The pork loin sandwich featured two very large pieces of pork that were very good but would make a sandwich that could only be eaten by an anaconda. Service was very good, with the server regularly checking back. We will definitely return when back in the area.More

Went for a nice family dinner while we were visiting. Great service without being to the point of hovering. Attentive to my 7 year old and her likes/dislikes. Filet mignon was tender like a warm stick of butter. Cut them with our regular knives-no steak...knife or sauce needed. Appetizer combo platter was devoured. Everything was spot on. Just delicious. Highly recommended.More

We did the early special for dinner. (special occassion) First, the tables are socially distanced. All staff had masks. Hand sanitizer available. They use linen table clothes that are changed after each customer. Glad we picked Haub's. It was a quiet dinner atmosphere. Yes, we...were there around 5pm and left around 6pm. We ordered the pork chops and steak. Both were excellent along with the baked potato and salad. We also enjoy after drinks after dinner. (full service bar). Again, a nice special occasion visit. Staff very friendly. Will definitely return.More

Best steaks, cooked to perfection. Love the fried mushrooms! Salads leave much to be desired. Chef needs to work on better salads. They have early dining with reduced prices. Need to order before 6pm.

We recently had the opportunity to socialize with some friends and an out of town guest. Our dinner at Haub House was excellent! The wait staff was friendly, efficient, & very helpful; as well as being attentive without hovering.

Two of us had the petite filets and were very pleased with them. They were tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly as ordered. My husband had the delmonico ribeye and his was over cooked for mid rare. The side of mushrooms were greasy as were the...German fries. The mud pie was icy. The drinks were good as always. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable.More

We tried this place again this past weekend, thinking we maybe hit it on an off day last time. While service was much better, server was friendly, prompt and attentive. Food was very lackluster, bread had a really off/rancid taste. Halibut had a very old...and fishy taste. Sour cream was ordered and not delivered. Will not be back.More

We had heard great thing about this place so we had high hopes. We brought family that were in town for dinner. The server was a disorganized mess to say the least. We did NOT get bread after 2 requests, drink were wrong and had...to be re-made, and my daughter got a steak and not the prime rib she ordered. The server then got a large table of incredibly LOUD guests and we never saw her again. Also, she had a lot of long hair and none of it was pulled back, which is a must in a professional setting. The young girls providing water and busing tables were the only good thing we experienced. Will not be back.More

Last fall the restaurant seemed to be losing some of its reputation for being a classic restaurant worth driving to for a fine meal. However, the last two times we have been there (in December and January), things were much better. The service is always...great. The steaks are still good. One of our party had the chicken and it was nothing special. The bacon wrapped livers and cauliflower starters are very good. I also recommend the cauliflower salad. Of course, the bread pudding is the best. I hope they continue to improve to get the quality back to where it was for years.More

We decided as a family to drive up to Haubs for what we thought would be a great dinner !! Wrong . The place was pretty busy we were greeted and seated right away and drinks ordered . The drinks showed up wrong and had...to be reordered we had to ask for bread to be delivered our salads were just lettuce dumped from a bag and a small amount of dressing . The steaks my daughter ordered the Barrell cut filet med well it showed up to the table med rare we sent back ? I had the ribeye that was so damm fat and was over cooked as I asked for med ? They brought my daughters back a burnt up 5 oz filet she couldn’t even cut ? We explained to the waitress she acted like okay what you want me to do !!!! I asked if they would remove from my bill they n/c that dinner and we got a free dessert to go ! The service level wasn’t exceptable for this type of dinning I know the labor force is stretched but this is such a overated steak house load your employees up and visit a Morton’s or Ruth Chris so they understand what service can be . Sorry we won’t be back for sometime this use to be a great place !!!More
