Birthday Trip

I surprised my husband on his birthday with a quick day trip and we started our day with breakfast at Sara's Family Restaurant. We had a small wait for a table but it was totally worth it. We always enjoy our food at this family gem! I always find another piece of the displayed history that I didn't notice before. Portions are more than enough and service was very fast and attentive despite the very busy breakfast crowd.

Great service and food

My husband and I have eaten here several times for both breakfast and dinner. The service is top notch, waitress are very friendly and helpful with menu items. Food has always been very good. Portions can be large so we end up taking food home. Warm and cozy atmosphere can be crowded and loud but thankfully they don’t have TVs running.

Made from scratch food with hearty portions

I had the orange chicken with noodles. The chicken was chicken breast and was very tender not a frozen mix like most restaurants. I requested no peppers and even though they had a mix they were able to remove the peppers. Our main entrees arrived before we finished our salad. My husband had the mac & cheese which was homemade. We will definitely be back when we visit family in the area.

Consistently good food. Hot food is hot and cold food is cold. Both are tasty. Service is very friendly. Gluten free food is really good in fact Sara’s has a separate gluten free menu! A solid go-to particularly for those times where you cannot decide what you are hungry for!

Satisfying quality meal....

A previous review implies this is not a place to indulge in haute cuisine, and they are correct. This, however, in our opinion is something better; a place that serves quality comfort food at a reasonable price. The facility is clean and well-maintained, with a local eatery ambiance. Our server, Angela, was friendly and attentive. We had the Meat Lover's omelet, and Mike's skillet; both of which were well-prepared, tasty and amply portioned (with plenty leftover for later enjoyment). We also had a take-out meatloaf dinner & carrot cake, which we tried later at home. The meatloaf was decent, with the mac & cheese quite good. The carrot cake was great. As we hadn't been back to Ft Wayne for several years, we were quite pleased with a return visit to this establishment. As we had remembered, this is a wonderful option; if one is seeking an unpretentious satisfying quality meal, at a realistic price point.

Glad we stopped at Sara's

So glad we trusted the reviews. Good dinner with amazing, efficient, friendly service. We needed to grab dinner before driving home to Kokomo and like to eat at local restaurants. My husband ordered the jalapeno orange pancakes. They are so good. The orange sauce was perfect and the pepper flavor blended well. Kind of like the way a jalapeno spices up craft cocktails - subtle yet recognizable. I had chicken fried steak. It was good but nothing special. The mashed potatoes were rustic and very good. Fried okra was also fresh and crispy. We will definitely go back next time we are in Ft Wayne.

Excellent restaurant!

What a great restaurant! I stopped in for a late breakfast during the late morning of August 3 and had a wonderful Western omelet with good hash browns, great coffee and pancakes that were perfectly done. It was very busy at the time but the service was outstanding and very attentive. Even the water (I think it’s filtered?) was good!…Before leaving, I used the restroom and it was immaculate…I have been a customer of this excellent dining establishment in the past and in my opinion, based on what I’ve experienced and for what it specializes in, it is one of Fort Wayne’s best restaurants.

Large Menu!

Pro: We really enjoyed the size of this menu. There is something for everyone. They have some normal breakfast items as well as some unique ones which makes it enjoyable to try different menu items. Why lost 1 Star: we couldn’t give this restaurant 5 stars because we didn’t think any one menu item we got was amazing and something we would want to get again if we went there instead of trying something new. We thought the hash browns needed more seasoning. We enjoyed everything we had but nothing stood out as spectacular. Still a nice local restaurant I would recommend going to!

Mediocre lunch food, large portions if you want quantity over quality

Mediocre food, large quantity of food for cheap. Food was bland and nothing special. Blackened chicken Alfredo had no taste chicken or sauce and club sandwich was cheap meats. Wished others would have been honest. Quantity over quality

FAMILY RESTAURANT DEFINITION ACCORDING TO ALL WEB SEARCHES IS AN EATING ESTABLISHMENT THAT SERVES RELATIVELY SIMPLE FOOD AT REASONABLE PRICES. AND WELCOMES CHILDREN AS WELL AS ADULTS. We cater to several thousands customers weekly and as you can READ our reviews on Google and Trip Advisor over 98% of our customers are very pleased with their dining experiences at our restaurant. WE ABSOLUTELY USE THE BEST INGREDIENTS AVAILABLE TO US TO MAKE OUR DISHES!! I recommend that you stay away from family restaurants and stick with your exotic restaurants.

Thanks to Outback Being Closed

We planned a lunch at Outback Steakhouse only to find it doesn’t open til 4pm. Sara’s Family Restaurant was close by so we decided to try it. SO glad we did. Very clean. Large selection. Breakfast still available so assuming all day. Good prices and Large Portions! Hubby had breakfast haystack of hash browns biscuits and gravy and topped with 2 eggs. He said better than Bob Evans! He was full but couldn’t stop eating! I got the chicken stir fry and it was amazing. Came with a salad for $9.99. Enuf for 2meals. Very good raspberry which was a bonus! We will definitely go back when we are in Ft Wayne again!

Loved Sara's twice!

Found Sara's a homey, welcoming place with delicious food! We had lunch here and then came back 2 days later for breakfast! Excellent and cheerful waitstaff, generous portions and large variety pleased everyone in the family. We also enjoyed the Americana themed decor and the clever menu names based on famous Americans. If you look up the word "Diner", there should be a picture of Sara's! We will be back!!

First timers!

I've been missing out on this place for a long time. I wish I would have eaten there sooner. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were huge. Nobody finished their entire meal. If you're looking for a place to take the family, Sara's is the place to go. The menu is large and there should be something for everyone. Salads, pasta, burgers, skillets, fish, wraps and other sandwiches. There is so much to choose from. I had the Greek pasta with chicken and look forward to going back soon to try something different.

Excellent food you won’t be disappointed!!

Great place if you like large portions it’s worth it. The menu has a lot of options to choose from. Staff was very attentive and even the owner came out and personally greeted us and asked how our service was. Best food in Fort Wayne!!!

Wow! What a Menu!

Incredible menu and quality food to match. We were blown away by all the different menu choices and unique dishes. The quality of the food and the portions were incredible. Service was excellent, attentive and quick. Broderick was fantastic! Can’t wait to return and try another unique item.

Good solid place for food

The food was delicious, portions worthy in size, staff courteous and hard working. Breakfast was a win. Omelette was huge and lots of taters. Others sandwich was very good. Short wait, but that speaks to how busy it was.
