This place has had great food and wonderful service for almost 50 years. Menu has changed very little over the years . Margaritas , rocks or frozen, better than Bobby Flay makes !

Delicious, hot food and cool drinks! Went here for my birthday with my immediate family and had the fish tacos and they were amazing. My daughters actually ate their food! Great family atmosphere.
We haven’t been here for at least 12 years and will not be back for another 15 years or until they get real salsa and flavor food. Worst salsa ever. The red sauce tasted just like that sauce or better tomato paste. Zero flavor. The...green sauce was no better. The waitress couldn’t even tell us what all ingredients they put or didn’t put in it to make is so bland. We added salt for some type of flavor and it still was gross. We order mesquite chicken nacho and the chicken it’s self had zero flavor. We also order the steak fajita quesadilla and the steak had no flavor either. Yes the food and plates came out hot but the flavor was no where to be found. Had to ask for extra sour cream which they charge a .99 for each time. Try to get a to go pop and I was told they don’t have to go cups. My advice is unless you want some good flavorful Mexican food with great salsa do not go to El Azteca.More
We frequent Mexican weekly and I've not been to El Azteca for over 10 years. This was the worst food I've had in years. Service was slow well, took over 30 m.k minutes for 5 people. Mexican is very fast but not here. Dont go!
Start with the Azteca Squeeze: fresh made margaritas. Alway excellent! Not too sweet, plenty of tequila and the mango juice orange juice with lime is a perfect combination. We usually order the guacamole appetizer. It is made to order and is chunky and delicious. This...is one restaurant that we regularly order a salad. I recommend the Mariachi salad with the chicken Alemendra. This is enough for two if you get an appetizer. The service is top notch with plenty of chip and a variety of salsas.More
We recently reconnected with el Azteca after decades and they did not disappoint us in the least. From a quiet booth in the back to tasty chips and salsa to the main entree - all was top notch. Our server was very attentive and helpful....We will definitely return within the near future now that we have rediscovered this restaurant. Oh, the food was delicious! The maricos enchilada was succulent with plenty of seafood varieties and melt-in-your-mouth taste. Hubby ordered the classic burrito and raved about it. As a birthday celebrant, we were served the most delicious cake and frosting. We took food home to enjoy the following day!More
My FAV, hands down, is their MARGARITAS !!! The regular old lime blended ones are great, but when I was there last week, I was enticed to try their PUMPKIN MARGARITA !!! If you are a pumpkin lover, you've gotta try it. Not TOO sweet,...and did taste pumpkiny. Their food is always good. My group of friends tried to sit out on their sunny deck to enjoy the last of summer weather, but once the bees discovered our sweet drinks, they swarmed us and we had to go in. We all DID notice that the booth we were seated in desperately needs to have the seats redone- there's not much support or spring left in the cushions at all- rather uncomf.More
Every time I go to El Azteca, I think "maybe the food will be good this time." It never is. I ordered steak fajitas on my visit two days ago. The steak had no seasoning at all, nor did the vegetables. Not even any lime....It was just so bland. Now the margaritas, on the other hand... out of this world! I recommend the coconut margarita - it will change your life! My recommendation is to go for the margaritas and a bowl of chips, and then go elsewhere for dinner.More
When my friend from CT is in town, we always meet at El Azteca. Not only do they have wonderful Mexican cuisine, they have great margaritas in a variety of flavors. Mojitos are a favorite.
We were visiting friends in Ft Wayne and they brought us to El Azteca. We had the queso and crispy nachos. The service was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was good and they made sure we did not run...out of chips and salsa.More
My husband ate at this restaurant 40-years and we ate their together ten years ago. How nice that a restaurant can be in business that long, and still have great food & service! The guacamole was fresh & delicious. He had the marisco seafood chimi...and I had the steak burrito. Both were delicious and perfect lunch size portions. Would def stop again next time we’re in Fort Wayne.More
I’m originally from Fort Wayne and while visiting I seen that the El Azteca was still there. I was surprised because it’s been 30 years but was excited because I remember it as an amazing Mexican restaurant. I’m not sure what happened but I was...really disappointed. It’s not authentic but more commercial now. Food is very average if that. Even the sauce seemed like something out of a can. They have reconstructed the place since I’ve been there which was nice. A little bigger now. But the inside didn’t even have a Mexican feel. It’s not terrible but it’s not real good either. Definitely will not go back.More
Mark, I have to be honest with you, our recipes and ingredients have not changed. I can assure you of that. Although we have added some new menu items over the years, our goal has been to keep the quality consistent. We know our menu...More
Good chips & Salsa....3 different flavors to choose from. Good Mexican fare.....lot’s of options to choose from on the menu. Good Mexican decor thru out and music. Kid friendly.
Try the Herb chicken tamale with rice and beans - it did not disappoint. Only suggestion: provide a spicier red salsa!!
Thank you for the Great review! Not sure if you tried our Chipotle salsa, but it is spicier than our red salsa. If you did not try it be sure you do the next time.
With friends in town we selected Azteca for dinner. Not having visited Azteca for several years we were looking forward to checking it out. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas, black berry in fact. This was tasty but had no black berries or pulp, so...It was just a syrup flavoring, not bad but would have been better with some real berries. It also had a kick as was later found out. The chip and dip came with a bowl of red semi hot and a bowl of green not hot sauce. The hot sauce was good but the green had an unusual flavor that took getting used too. A 50-50 mix seemed to work for those who did want a hot sauce. For dinner I had a pick two with a pork & beef enchilada and a pork & beef tamale. The enchilada was passable, however the tamale was not. The normal corn meal coating was more like dry saw dust. It was not an experience that left us with a desire to come back. Azteca has been around a long time so maybe this was an off night. Might be a couple of years before we return to try againMore
I apologize for your disappointing visit. There is no reason why the tamale should have been so dry and I will speak to my cooks about it. We make them fresh and normally they fall right off of the corn husk. The margaritas you chose...More
