For starters this place has a lot of history! It’s amazing inside, beautiful woodwork. They have almost any kind of scotch you could think of. The food is very tasty, we had the blarney puffballs for appetizer my wife had fish and chips I had...the Offaly salmon! All was amazing and full of flavor! We had the Hettmer drinks witch is is spin on the traditional Long Island tea! Staff was very professional and fast to serve!More

We arrived almost at last call; however, a large group implored the manger to remain open so they did just that. We quickly ordered a lamb burgers. The scotch choices are abundant and as always my favorite ( recommended by the bartender on my first...trip 5 years ago ) is Laphroaig. Our server Lauren was excellent! Lauren was pleasant , quick and didn't seem unhappy about extended hours. ( or she hid it well ) We had a delicious meal and great service. Located directly across from the Hyatt, so have all the scotch you want!!!More

This was the first place I had a meal in Bloomington 30 years ago - and I have been back over and over again. It is exactly what an Irish American pub should look like with quirky decor and a beautiful long bar. The food...is never spectacular, but it is always satisfying. The coddle and cheese potato skins are particularly popular, but you can also get Irish standbys like corned beef and cabbage, and soda bread. They always have fish, and its often the only place in town serving oysters. The upstairs is perfect for group gatherings, and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming.More

Worked here in college back in the late 80's. The menu hasn't changed a bit (except for the specials) and that's a positive. The wings are the best in town, the coddle is a terrific comfort food, and their oysters Rockefeller are top notch. If...beer is your thing, they have yards and half yard options....you don't see that many places. Though i now live in michigan, i make sure i get back Bloomington way just for the Lion.More

Excellent service and food. Had fresh oysters on the half shell - not expected in the middle of the USA.

Bragged to our friends, and were embarrassed! This place was once our favorite place in town, but something has changed. Both food and service were terrible today. The restaurant was empty, yet service was very slow. Food took forever, and everyone's meals were below average....Really sad...More

Wish I could have written a better review. I can’t even write on the service or food. This is the 3rd time In 3 years that we drove from St. Louis to visit our son at IU. Third time we called the restaurant to either...make reservations or to make sure the upstairs was available to accommodate us and our under 21 year old. Each time we were told by the hostess they could accommodate us. Each time showing up only to be turned away. 1st 2 times we were turned away was because they forgot the upstairs was being used and because our son was under 21 we cold not be served on the 1st floor. This 3rd time the IU rugby team called to reserve the upstairs for the team and their moms for 6:30-8:30 only again to be turned away by another mistake from management as we were told that there was a misunderstanding aabiut reservation time and they had us at 4:30pm I cannot even comment on the food or service because I was never allowed to be seated for dinner!!! I was really bummed this last time as I was really looking forward to trying the food and take in the atmosphere! I have decide that it is not worth the effort to attempt a fourth time. I will support all the other great establishments Bloomington has to offer!More

The rugby team coach made an online reservation for 4:30 p.m., not 6:30p (copy sent to the coach). Your party arrived two hours late and were not turned away. Moreover, the coach and the executive office manager confirmed the reservation in correspondence. At 4:50p, twenty minutes...More

Sometimes when you are in a college town, you really want to escape to a place where the median age is closer to 30 than 21. This restaurant/pub was a refreshing place to go for lunch and had a full bar. The decor is very...cool and the crowd at lunch was calm and happy. Luckily we were staying across the street in the Hyatt, so talk about being convenient!More

If your looking for a break from the usual pub food, this is it. Their dishes vary from traditional American food to corned beef or Shepards Pie. The inside has the feel of an old Irish pub with beautiful dark wood and a huge bar....It looks like a scene from a movie. Try the fish and chips. It's one of my favorites.More

Stopped here during the annual guy’s trip to Bloomington Speedway and the Indy 500. The food is great. Blarney balls, Coddle, fish & chips, and a huge selection of global whiskeys. Has been a favorite of mine for over 20 years. Always try to visit...when in Bloomington.More

They're usually really good. Pretty standard fish and chips, but better than, say, O'Charley's version. Someone in the kitchen understands how to bread and fry stuff.
