We dine at the Runcible Spoon every time we come to visit our son in Bloomington. We love the atmosphere and the food tastes like it was made by Grandma in her kitchen. The decor is always fun to explore, something new each time. The only negative: it's crowded. But that's the sign that it's good!

Went here on a weekday morning around 10:30 am and it was very packed. We waited over 30 minutes and with the place being so tiny, we could not move. The pancakes are worth the wait so we stayed. Awesome pancakes. Coffee was cold, but they offered to make a new batch. It seems like they could use some extra... More

If you are looking for a "real" Bloomington place to eat this is a great one. A little querky and a fun. Food is good to very good. Service is friendly and efficient. Crowded on weekends. Known for breakfast, but dinner and lunch are also good.

Quaint little setting, pleasant staff. Our party of 7 gave high marks for food. I had the salmon entree, just a very interesting collection of flavors. The rice and black bean soup was delicious. My wife enjoyed her gypsy chicken entree, and 2 omelettes at our table looked great. It's not super comfortable, and our food should have been hotter... More

Went on a Sunday morning and even though it was busy was seated in less than 5 minutes. We ate downstairs. The blueberry pancakes were superb. A cute place.

I was traveling for work and was looking for somewhere different for dinner. I was really happy with this choice. It is kind of tucked in a residential neighborhood. Very cozy with a nice little patio. The service was very good as was my dinner. I wish I had brought my laptop so I could have stayed and worked for... More

Very busy and popular place on a Saturday late afternoon. We got seated immediately and served water, then our waiter was nowhere to be found. After about 15 minutes of waiting, we finally asked someone who was our waiter. Someone finally took our order. We enjoyed our food - corn beef hash and french toast, and the chai was yummy.... Really good brisket mixed in and 2 over easy eggs to go with. Had some of my wife's egg sandwich which was good and American style potatoes

We had an enjoyable breakfast in the downstairs of this popular spot. We all enjoyed our meals. The hot chocolate was splendid.

The Runcible Spoon has been in Bloomington as long as I can remember, and that is a LONG time. It's two blocks from Kirkwood Avenue where most everything happens downtown, but the atmosphere is quiet and cerebral.
