I was recently stationed in Wilmington for a temporary assignment, and had this place recommended to me by coworkers. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but the effort is worth the wait. I happened to arrive when they were offering special...shrimp dishes during November, so I tried their shrimp appetizer, but also sampled their fish and chips, prawns and their take on macaroni and cheese. I had excellent dinners here, with solid service. Great seafood with a Cajun touch, miles from the ocean. Definitely one of my favorites in Illinois.More

Ten minute discussion as where to seat us. Service was ok. Had to wait for a refill on my soda. (Refills should be automatic.) $20 for 4 prawns, mashed potatoes, and a lemon slice. Very overpriced. Salad is not included with entrees. Prawns were delicious....Steak was undercooked and full of gristle. Fancy atmosphere.More

What a Great Day we had thanks to Our server Jesica, I ordered The Cioppino which had Mussels from San Fran,Calamari,Crab,Large Shrimp, Whitefish in a Garlic wine Tomato Onion and Herb Sauce which was fantastic. I'm happy I ordered an extra bread for sopping that...flavorful sauce up. My Brohams ordered the Mussels and the other ordered the Crab which they both enjoyed. We have been here a few times and have always enjoyed our meals. We also go to Joliet every year for New Orleans North for the Soft Shell Crab sandwich. Good luck to the New owners Tim & Jackie I know you will do well with the same staff continuing to stay on.More

We enjoy this location so much we kept trying, hoping that warm food, flavored "not to write home about", served slowly, would somehow improve. Sadly, not. Clam chowder was well-seasoned, served a little above room temperature. Sandwiches soggy. Beer poorly poured and not quite full...enough. We've gone for both lunch and dinner and service is similarly slow, errors frequent, food consistently mediocre. Sadly, we cannot recommend eating here.More

Where do I start. I prefer to write about the good but unfortunately there wasn't any of that. We started off with a 5-10min wait to be seated which wasn't bad however they weren't too busy. Once we were all seated and the waitress finally...came over we ordered mac n cheese for the kids to be sent out immediately since it was the kids lunch time and then the rest of our order shortly after that probably around 1pm. At this point everyone's order has already been taken and we're just waiting for the food to come out. I received my gumbo which was barely warm and the flavor wasn't great and then my wifes calamari came out which was overcooked and in a puddle of oil which I have a picture of that I'll attach if I can. As we are all sitting waiting for our food to come out we had to ask another server to find out what was going on with our order. As soon as I ask the server to speak with a manager he knew exactly the table and roughly what was going on. So the server goes in back to look for the waitress and manager and comes back telling me that the waitress is hiding and the manager is acting like she's busy. Finally our waitress comes out and I told her to cancel the order and that we were leaving and wanted our bill. She comes over probably 10min later with our food and carryout boxes. I tried my fish tacos they were horrible cold and mush. The rest of the food was the same. As the waitress tried to give us carryout boxes I told her no thanks and she went and got the manager who I later found out was supposedly the owner. As we were leaving I told her the food and service were unacceptable. She then proceeded to give me a different story compared to the one she told my wife and the others while I was trying to go to the bathroom( btw clean your restroom standing in a puddle of urine is disgusting) she tries to tell me that the order was out in 20min which was bs since three fairly large tables that were sat and ordered after us were all done before we got our food at 2:30pm. The owner(lady with red hair) tells me that she'll run her business the way she's fit and was defensive about any constructive criticism i gave her and not once offered any type of apology. The funny thing was we talked to family on the way home that regularly went there and said that after the last few visits they were done with the place from similar issues. Just wish I had known that. Btw I work in a service related industry and this is probably the first time I wont be giving a business another try.More

This was our second visit to Big Fish Grille. The first time we went in the evening for dinner. It was good. Husband had the king crab legs which were very good. We seen the Sunday Funday at Big Fish grill advertised on facebook for...this past Sunday August 3rd for half price oysters (cooked or raw) while supplies last and $3.50 bloody Mary's. Big Fish opened at 11:30am. We arrived about 1:00pm. All very excited and had already made our decision on what we were going to order prior to being sat at our table. I wanted 6 oyster Rockefeller and husband wanted dozen raw oysters. Quite a bit of a wait for our server who brought over a tablet for us to brows threw drinks and see the 2 dinner specials and told us they were out of oysters. Very disappointing. I ask my husband if we should leave as that was our main reason for going. We felt like we were suckered in by advertising half price oysters only to be told they were out in 90 minutes. We felt like this was a black Friday deal where the stores advertise a great deal but only have 2 items in stock. We got the bloody Mary's. I requested mine be made without tabasco to find out the beverage is already made up. Gave them a try anyways. We are not heavy drinkers and felt nothing from the weak bloody Marys. When someone says lobster roll one would think of a large bustling chunks of pink lobster on a roll. As you can see the $17.00 lobster roll had very little lobster on bread and basically tasted like a cucumber sandwich which is exactly what it looked like. Pretty unlikely we will return, if we do, and decide to come back on a Sunday we will have to be there at 1130am on lose.More

2nd year we've been here for an.early dinner . Food is delicious and the service is great! There is usually 6 of us and we always make early reservations. The service is great, and the food is wonderful. Their beer and wine selection is also...very good. Hoping to come back so we can sit outside by the water and watch the boats go by.More
