Made a reservation for a Friday night. When we arrived, about 7pm the place was packed. There were two young women at the hostess stand and another older woman who was running around very flustered. There was a woman at the stand that seemed to...have a problem with her take out order but no matter what I couldn't get the attention of anyone to let me them know we were there for our 7pm reservation. More people were coming in and the hostesses were actively ignoring all of us. The whole situation was very poor. Eventually we did get their attention and did get seated. They were not apologetic and certainly not friendly.
We came for Restaurant week and I will say that the menu is a good deal. Unlike most Restaurant week menus this one is meant for sharing. You have a choice of the three course menu or the four course one.
We went with the four course menu and chose the Bruschetta, the beet and goat cheese salad, a veggie pizza and the flourless chocolate cake. The beet and goat cheese salad, titled Barbabietola, was the best of the four courses. It was a well balanced combination of flavors and had plenty of sweet red and gold beets with just right amounts of tart goat cheese, spicy arugula and tangy balsamic vinegar. The Bruschetta was fine. A traditional combo of ricotta, roasted cherry tomatoes and basil. I thought it too bready and quite crisp enough. The pizza had good flavor and I loved all the veggies - artichokes, olives and mushrooms. They call this pizza Quattro Stagioni. The problem with it was that the crust became just a lump of wet dough in the center. The outside of the crust was delicious but I really didn't care for how soggy and just plain gooey the center became. The dessert, the flourless chocolate cake was not good. It was dry and pretty flavorless.
As I mentioned, they were very busy and the volume level in the place was very high. It was really really loud and it made conversation with my dining partner difficult. The tables were very close together and it was easier to hear the conversation of the table next to us than to hear the person across from me.
I was pretty disappointed in our visit here, especially considering how popular they seem to be.More
