The 'white pie' was no big deal and not worth driving out of your way for a slice. The wife and I drove over for a slice (plus some chocolate peanutbutter pie) after reading TA recommendations. Don't get me wrong, neither slice was below average, just not a big deal as portrayed by other guests and signage on the restaurant.

Great friendly service, good food, lots of it is fried, but the veggies were very good, fair prices.

Good family restaurant. We had the steak sandwich the 1st visit and it was really good, could have used a little more steak, but otherwise no complaints. Waitresses were very friendly and on top of their tables.

I met my cousin and her husband for lunch at Burtons. When we were younger our families would eat at Burtons. I especially loved the coconut cream pie with meringue..yesterday I had the chicken and dumplings and they were excellent. Of course I also had the coconut cream pie. I was not disappointed. My cousin had a variety of sides,... More

Years ago, this way a great restaurant. Yes, the popularity of their White Pie stretched far and wide. While camping at Rend Lake this summer, a group of us felt the need for White Pie. So, into the vehicles and off to Burton'w we went. What do you mean you are out of White Pie!!! Well, jaws dropped and now... More

This restaurant's white pie was listed as an iconic food must in an Illinois travel magazine so we decide to stop for lunch while traveling home to Chicago on I57 in southern Illinois. Cute little place, very clean and everyone was so friendly and nice. Since we were still "in the south" we had to try sweet tea, fried okra,... More

Don't let the basic exterior of this cafe fool you. The food is awesome. There is not a lot of choices for restaurants close to the hotel we were staying at, we went looking for some place to eat and happened upon this cafe. We were expecting just average tasting food, we were wrong! The chicken salad was one of... More

Mashed potatoes from a box, dry cornbread, pre-formed hamburger patty not so great...but the meatloaf, green beans and Lima beans were good! Go figure. And the sweet tea was great. The white pie? Average. Not too sweet but nothing to write home about. We wouldn't go back if we were in the area.
