The place we wanted to go to wasn't open yet, so we wandered the street and some guy came out to lure us to his restaurant. It was the only one open at that time, so we went. The food was OK. Totally overpriced, seems...to be set to take advantage of the tourists. My chicken tasted like something from Burger King. The sides were 'meh. The bun was good! We waited 30 minutes for our food, even though were were the only ones there. We almost left, and the food magically showed up. All in all, the food was edible, but I wouldn't go back.More

My husband & I were walking around downtown Utica, happened to walk by Canal Port when a man walked out and greeted us and told us about this place, actually found out later, this man was the owner. He informed us about the specials and...we said we would be return for dinner. Oh my, what can we say. This place had the best food, the portions were huge and the service was excellent. Everyone was attentive, polite, and pleasant. It was very clean, cozy and the fireplace was inviting. My husband ordered the mushrooms for an appetizer, should have been a meal, they were gigantic. Tavern fried chicken was juicy and delish, once again portions were huge. I ordered a salad, wild rice, and broccoli with a raspberry iced tea. I can't tell you how much we really enjoyed this lovely little nook in downtown Utica. We were so filled up from dinner that we went back the next evening to try the chocolate cola cake which was moist, not overly sweet and very good! If you are looking for an AWESOME dining experience in the Starved Rock/Utica area, this is a must stop. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, Canal Port Bar & Grill for making our getaway a joyful one!!!More

Meh. Had the crab cake sandwhich. It was a little odd...like they ran out of buns or something and served it with heavily buttered french bread slices. French fries were good. Service was so so. We sat for 15 minutes before someone came out to...get our order.More

Very nice atmosphere, though as a Cubs fan a bit too much White Sox memorabilia:). Food was excellent. I had potato soup which was excellent. For my main course, I ordered the reuben sandwich. It was truly one of the best reubens I have ever...had, which I didn't expect in a town as small as Utica. The fries were slightly seasoned and excellent. My wife had a veggie burger and said that was excellent as well. Service was good and friendly. Highly recommended.More

Went here with family for lunch. 3 of us got the reuben sandwich since it was so highly recommended. It lived up to it's reputation. Meat was tender and the sauerkraut did not over power the sandwich. Husband got the fish and chips; he said...it was okay but he had wished he would have ordered the reuben instead. The place is nice and clean and the wait staff is quick and friendly. Prices are decent. If it's cold outside ask to sit in the backroom near the fireplace.More

We had some time to visit the national park starved rock. We arrived to the traditional Canal Port bar in the afternoon for a late lunch. Very friendly greeting by the owner, fantastic Evil horse draft beers and a great choice of traditional American cuisine....I took the crab cakes and a colleague had the calamari washed down by the Scottish brew beer. Great service, made to feel welcome. Highly recommendedMore

Don’t be put off by the aged smell when you walk in- it’s a very old building and you get used to it quickly so it’s not noticeable. The sandwiches, burgers, etc were great. We had lunch here twice, and believe me we would not...have returned had it not been delicious. We had different servers each time and they were both great! Good food, great service. We recommend this place.More

We were wandering around the streets of Utica right after Labor Day. Not much was going on and a few places were closed. We stopped in here for lunch. The bartender/waitress was very friendly. The sandwiches were very good but a little pricey. The draft...beer was also a little pricey. Otherwise, not a bad spot.More
