This is the first cafe I've ever stepped into that literally smelled like my Grandma's kitchen, and my Grandma was an amazing baker. Although it's set in the rather quaint surrounds of a second hand store, the food from this cafe is an absolute delight. Everything is handmade on site, and tastes fresh and delicious. I also had a flat... More

We happened by this NZ national treasure of a cafe a couple of years ago and make it a point to stop in every time we travel up North now. The BEST sandwiches, scones, slices, coffee and tea, a lovely owner to compliment the food, an authentic amazing delight!

My coffee could have been better, but perhaps I should have got cows milk instead of soy in a place where the owner has her own cows ;) Either way, I shall not remove any of the 5 stars coz the owner is so nice and the pie was so good! Chic, quirky, fancy but laid back atmosphere. A gift... More

Quirky, friendly café with the best Parmesan, Onion and Sage scones ever! Well worth stopping for and interesting being able to look at curios for sale while waiting for coffee and delicious food

Driving back to Auckland from Russell we were in need of a morning coffee and happened on this delightful place. Our coffees were perfect and the savory scone was yum scrum! Lucky NZ still having highways going through little towns which offer good wholesome cooking.

Stopped into this cute wee cafe on our way home and was pleasantly surprised. A small, but impressive selection of home made pies, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, and sweet treats. Really friendly service and nice seating in and out. Loved the old plates and mismatched help yourself cutlery. Good strong coffee and a sweet chai hit the spot along with the... More

We stopped at 1h30 for lunch and many of the food options were depleted. It quickly became evident that this was a one-woman operation and we had to wait quite awhile to order and waited an age for our food. But the atmosphere is charming, the decor is unique and there are magazines and water on offer. Any wait was... More

We looked for the right place to stop for a morning coffee on our way North for a funeral at Bream Bay and this was it ! As others have said this is tucked away .. quaint cute and very 1940's with magazines to read or just look at the pictures !! The scones were a delightful treat with our... More

I've now stopped in to Mormors on three seperate occassions and it's something I look forward to on journeys north. Good coffee, wide selection of sweet and savoury treats, only negative is that the scrummy sausage rolls seem to have halved in size.

I've stopped here twice on the way between Auckland and the Bay of Islands. It's a lovely little cafe, beautifully furnished with the best toasted sandwiches I've had in a decade in New Zealand. If you want to break the four hour drive, this is the place to stop. It's about 18k from Wellsford going north, and after the Brynderwyns... More
