I really like the philly beef

I really like the philly beef sandwich served on grilled Texas bread. Good amount of beef and cheese on it along with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The Wisconsin cheese soup is okay-lumpy and only warm, not hot. Breakfasts come with a good serving of hashbrowns. This cafe is good, overall. We like coming here when we pass through town.

Nice restaurant

Took six family members for supper bason on the trip advisor reviews. The reviews are accurate- this is a good restaurant. The menu is expansive. There are daily specials. All six enjoyed the meals. Orders were exactly what people ordered. Portion size was generous. Pricing is very reasonable for today’s market. Will definitely return if in the area.

Stopped in for lunch. We have been here two times before. Staff VERY friendly. Treat you like old friends. Large menu to choose from. They have wraps-burgers and full meals. We have never had a bad meal. Quality is consistent is always fresh and good.

Disappointing

Food quality has dropped down over the last six months! Do not plan on going back again! The food just has no flavor to it! Most of the time food is not hot!

Stopped in on our way home. Looked like a good small place. They did not disappoint. VERY friendly staff, nice choices. Proportions bigger than most. Food very tasty! We will be back.

Sausage gravy is very bland

We ordered a house omelette to go. Average taste and size. Good place to go for homestyle meals. Omelette was around $10.00.

Beware!!! Unscrupulous pricing practices!!

Ate there recently and my friends main meal of liver and onions was overcooked, (meat was like shoe leather), and the waitress said she would not charge us for it. And as a side note, both of our meals 'included' soup. When we got the bill, we were charged for the soup because, as the manager dictated to the poor waitress, 'if they take something off the bill, then a charge is put into place to compensate for the loss'. Are you kidding me??!! Absolutely unconscionable, one of the worst business practices I've ever seen...ever....and needless to say, we'll never go back and will continue to spread the word. Shame on them!

Good place to stop for a bite!

The Philly beef sandwich on Texas toast was very good! We also tried the chicken chipotle wrap, which was also tasty. Salads are fresh. Soups are usually very good, too. Service is fast and friendly. Food is served hot! Consistently good for breakfast and lunch. Have not tried any dinners yet.

Very clean restaurant. I ordered the country fried steak skillet with no gravy. My husband had the Mexican omelette. He said it was great. My skillet came with gravy. I decided not to say anything and try the gravy. It was way too rich for my liking. The server was very friendly.

Great Fried Chicken

This is a busy restaurant. When we go to Taylorville, we try to be there at lunch time so we can eat at Spring Garden. Every time I dine there, I get the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, because they are so good and so filling. Everything is hot. It's a lot of food for the money.

This place is great~! Always stop here on the way to southern Illinois. Portions are large and food is excellent! Great value ~!! A must stop for breakfast or lunch~!!

So Glad I Stopped!!!

I am so glad I stopped in this place. The waitress was very attentive. Ordered fried chicken and I got it within 15 minutes. Everything tasted homemade. Excellent sweet tea. I am going to go back and try more menu items soon!

Delicious food!!

My husband and I have passed by this diner many times and (finally) decided to give it a try. I ordered the fried tilapia (2 pieces) which comes with a HUGE portion of fresh fruit along with your choice of soup or salad. My husband ordered the chopped steak with mushrooms and mashed potatoes/gravy along with choice of soup or salad. The salads were a generous size and they were served with a large basket of crackers along with 2 warm rolls. The entrees were an extremely generous portions! The diner is exceptionally clean and the staff are friendly and attentive. I guarantee we will be taking many more trips over from Springfield to have future meals whether it be breakfast or lunch/dinner. You don’t want to miss this stop!!
