The menu is quite varied with meat or seafood dishes. The style is small plates to share. The octopus is great.

I met a friend here for dinner. We picked the place last minute (based on location and reviews) and we were glad we did. You order a few dishes and share like tapas. Everything we ordered was delicious, and I look forward to going back and trying other items on the menu. We did not reserve a table, though we... More

Cute little restaurant that has potential. Not ready for prime time yet though. Uneven quality and portion sizes made it a bit hard to estimate "small plate" sharing. A couple of our drinks were very good---good pours, delicious. Two others were weak. Restaurant needs to list whether an item is deep fried with breading or if an item has cheese... More

Definitely worth the drive. Casual and relaxing atmosphere, courteous and helpful service, and gourmet food, all at reasonable prices. Best pork chop ever, tasty steak with jicama fries, pork belly done well, and skillfully prepared venison with blackberry sauce. The place is quite small (also a few tables on the back patio). Small menu too, but varied enough that everyone... More

Great spot in downtown Skokie, The crabcake, scallops, stuffed poblano and skirt steak dishes were delicious and large enough to share. Smoky margaritas were so good.

As of a few months Libertad is also open for weekend brunch. It might be an easier way to get a table - they are usually quickly sold out for dinner. And food is still delicious. Highlight of Northshore cuisine. Wish Skokie would become home of more of those restaurants combining high quality food and atmosphere.

Had reserved a table for a Friday evening, and it's a good thing we did because the place was packed. Wonderful experience with a series of small plates, excellent wine, and great service. We enjoyed mushroom risotto in accord squash, octopus dish, crab cakes, lamb meatballs with Greek yogurt, and "Naranja" (orange-flavored Creme Brulee) for dessert. Spectacular!!

Libertad is a gem in downtown Skokie. The menu is small plates, so try as many as you can. I've taken many guests to the restaurant over the last few years and they have all been impressed by the explosion of flavors in each dish. Reservations are strongly recommended as the restaurant is consistently busy, even during the week.

I love this place. The food is unusual, flavorful and always excellent. In addition, the cocktails taste amazing. I've enjoyed their crab cakes, octopus, and skirt steak entrees for dinner. I've also had yummy brunches there on Sundays. In the summer, check out their beautiful outdoor patio.
