Be careful what you order if, like me, you're wary of over-spicy dishes, but the food was generally good (I especially enjoyed the goat tibbs). On entering for dinner, I'd somehow failed to register that this was a 'cultural' restaurant (even though there's a prominent stage!), meaning that the evening dance show was unexpected -- it's the sort of thing i'd normally avoid, but in fact it was rather good. And prices were very reasonable, quite typical of the sort of place that attracts tourists and middle-class locals -- no hefty penalty for the floor show. All in all, a very enjoyable experience, to the extent that I chose to return the next evening (again, I'd normally choose a different place just for a range of experiences)

Nice rather typical Ethiopian meal, where vegetarian dishes (shirt, Habesha gomen) were ´very good and the meat, kitfo ok and rather hot.. Meat was very fresh, Ethiopian Style, it actually walked on all four into the kitchen when we were sitting there in the form of three goats. Nice dancing going on but the mucks was just to noisy for us to stay inside. Veranda was nicer, and we sat by the road enjoying watching people in the evening.

As we walked into this restaurant, there was already a folk dancing show going on and this continued during our dining experience. The music was loud. We were the only Westerners dining that night.
I ordered “SpecialTibs” [145 Barr]. This was injera with meat, a salad, bread and a dressing.
It was all nicely presented. My only problem was with the meat. This and all the meat that I have ordered in restaurants in this country, has been hard. Such a pity, as it spoilt an otherwise very good meal.

As a „foody“ person, I definitely have to agree with all people that gave the same rating as me....definitely an overall very nice place: excellent food, good service, very nice local ambiance and good dancing show (even on Wednesdays) - highly recommend it!!!

It was the only really decent Ethiopian meal I had in Axum and it was nice to see the dancing show. Like everything in Axum it was cheap eats.

We ate here and enjoyed the dancing. Our guide recomended the place and booked us a great table with agood view of the stage. We were there on a Sunday night and the place was packed with locals and tourists. The food we had was some of the best Ethiopian we tasted, the lamb was tender and there was lots of it. We had a few beers and were involved in the dancing. Its a great night out and only a short walk from the Sabean Hotel.

We showed up at AB expecting a restaurant. (Hey, that word is in the name.) Oh, it's so much more! There's a stage.... and dancers... and music.... and the room is FILLED with young people. (We were the oldest people in the room---by 50 years) and we were the only white tourists..... but we were made to feel COMPLETELY welcome.... and we had one of the best evenings of our trip at this place. (We walked the few blocks from our hotel to AB, and that was fun, too.) We ate local foods, which were simply prepared and nicely served. Think of this as a theatre/restaurant and you'll understand what you're in for. Wonderful evening. I'd go back there in a second.

You get entertainment with dinner which is an excellent compliment to the good food served here. Servers are polite and accommodating. Don't forget to try the Shiro.

After living in Ethiopia for a few months so far, I can say the food in this restaurant lacks in taste and spiciness to qualify for real Ethiopian food.

A fair local dancing and music floor show but the speakers where set too loud. A visit to the kitchen reveals it was dark and dirty right by the toilets. The quality of the food was disappointing

We booked a table here for New Years eve and when we arrived, we found it had been taken by another couple.. It was very busy and we were squeezed in and felt we were encroaching on another party's table. We had to wait ages to be serviced and when it did arrive, it was disappointing. The meat was tough and there was very little choice for the fasting food option I chose.
However, the ambience was very Ethiopian, with the decor and traditional music and dancing.

This was the most reviewed restaurant in tripadvisor for Axum so we got out of our way to have dinner here and we were underwhelmed.
The ambience was nice but the food was a bit disappointing, not the best we had in Ethiopia. The other one reviewed in tripadvisor as #2 is way better than here.
It was not worth getting a tuctuc to come here for what we got.

The ambience in the restaurant is quite nice with a lot of traditional Ethiopian stuff on the walls. The food a bit pricier than many other places and the shiro I had was not really as good as other places. They do have a sub-standard english menu and the service was a bit slow.

We came here 2 nights in a row while in Aksum. The waiter was very friendly, spoke great English so was able to describe the dishes in more detail than the sparse English translation, and service was relatively fast. The drinks were ice cold, which was much appreciated. The first night, we had the national dish, a sampler of vegetarian food on top of injeera, which was good with generous portion sizes (and free refills of our favorites). It was tasty though the food was not hot. The second night, we got pasta with meat sauce which was good. The standout dish was the shekla tibs, fresh lamb in a small cast iron pot served over a charcoal fire with injeera. I normally don't like lamb as I find it gamey, but this was super fresh (a hunk of lamb hangs in a room near the entryway and pieces are carved upon order) and really good.
