An unassuming place located near the intersection of 64 and 26 in NW Illinois between Forreston and Polo, serves outstanding homemade southern-style food. Stopped there for a late breakfast and found it was also a great value and delicious. They serve and are locally famous for their fried chicken along with scrumptious homemade pies, which are conveniently displayed nearby in... More

Stopped by for dinner and ordered the chicken Jake, it was delicious! Loved the charm of this restaurant and you can't beat the service. Our waitress was friendly, courteous and prompt with our order. Loved the salad bar, so many choices and you just can't beat the homemade pies! The apple dumpling was amazing. Had been by this restaurant on my travels between Iowa and northern Illinois and asked family members if they knew anything about it, they didn't, hadn't been there....so we went to dinner there and WOW! Were we pleasantly surprised...the place is cozy and pleasant with a great view of the Illinois landscape, and the food was downright fantastic! Large portions... More

I stopped in today for breakfast and tried the biscuits & gravy--really good! As was the service and general hospitality. Tony (the owner) is back in Illinois from Tennessee and he and his niece are both great folks. I plan to go back for lunch and/or dinner at some point. If you like home cooking at a family-run business, you... More

Very good turkey, ham Ok. For Easter or a holiday would have like a "real" baked" ham. They country ribs were a little dry but the mild BBQ sauce was good. Three items on the soup bar and the rest of the buffet good+. Everything appears to be homemade which is a big plus.

The Dogwood Inn is in rural Polo IL at the intersection of Rt. 26 and Rt 64, you can't miss it as it's the only thing around. I think this is a "locals" secret. I have passed it several times while driving a truck and noticed that it had a good size parking lot. Well today I stopped for breakfast,... More
