Delicious food, generous portions, good service, but food needed to be served hotter.

Delicious food, generous portions, but needed to be hotter when served. Fine dining in an unexpected location. Our friends live in Peoria and on our first night visiting they took us to Hearth. There we five of us. My wife and I had an AMAZING bowl of Beef and Barley soup (generous portion as well) and shared the Charcuterie ordered for the table. She ordered the pork chop and it was perfectly done and served with delicious sides. I ordered the scallops, and they too were perfectly prepared and tasted very good. I would order them again in a heartbeat. Service was fine and in keeping with the price point. My only issue has to do with temperature. For some reason our entrees were brought out from the kitchen and then left for some time on a sideboard with no heating fixture. By the time they actually reached the table, the scallops, the fine whipped potatoes, the green vegetable, the pork chop, the collards...all too cold to be served in this type of restaurant. Not cold enough to cost this review a star, since the food itself, even cooler than it should be, was so damn good. Had the food been hot enough it would be a near-perfect meal. Our friends were picking up the tab, so I did not want to complain, but if you visit Hearth, and you should, tell your server in advance that you like your food served HOT.

Birthday dinner

We had a superb meal, Salmon with Maple glaze was out of this world. Filet Mignon was done perfectly with the augratin potatoes as a great addition. Loved the cheese and fruit tray to start off our meal. Our waitress was friendly and very responsive. Highly recommend this as a night out. LookIng forward to returning in the future

Phenomenal Dinner!

We were just browsing "The Heights" and came across Hearth thought we'd stop in and take a look at their menu it was about 430 we were pleasantly surprised that the menu did focus primarily on protein which is Perfect as we are a keto/low carb family! We were given the 4-top overlooking the outside by the window. Perfect view. I ordered the Ciappino which was delish and we also got the NY Strip with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce paired with the mushrooms and Haricots Verts. So good!!! We splurged and finished it off with the Pecan Pie which was amazing.

Lack of respect

We went there for a birthday. We were 6 and I booked almost 3 weeks before the event to be sure to have a place outside. It was a very sunny day, perfect for a lunch outside with friends. Unfortunately, the table the restaurant kept for us wasn’t on the terrace, in the middle of the sidewalk without shade or parasol. We asked for another table with shade (one was free when we arrived!) and remembered the restaurant that we booked three weeks ago but apparently they couldn’t do anything for us and were very rude, telling us that we could seat inside ! The food was good but the way they answered to us was too rude and disrespectful to want to go back there again.

Whisky Tasting

Who doesn't like whisky? Hugh, the owner, took a private group through several bourbon, rye, Irish and Scottish whiskies. Very fun to try and experience the different flavors and nuances. Following that we had a lovely 3 course dinner. Well done Hugh! I will be coming back to add my name to the whisky wall!

We came for lunch. We had shrimp and grits, butterfly shrimp and cous cous, and the catfish po’ boy. Also, a cup of roasted tomato soup. The entrees were fabulous. The service was fabulous. The venue was warm and inviting. If I lived here, I’d be a regular. If lunch was this good, dinner must be spectacular. Thanks to all for an enjoyable experience.

Fantastic!

What a great meal! We started with the lamb meatballs which were delicious. The cioppino was amazing, as was the Brie potato gratin. We shared the bourbon pecan pie for dessert. Every bite of the meal was just so good. The space is elegant without being stuffy. The wait staff is outstanding.

Dessert at Hearth

On a warm spring afternoon I happened to stop at Hearth -- a fine-dine, casually elegant restaurant in a busy district of Peoria Heights. Hearth is well known for their high quality meals, served for lunch and dinner, and for the locally grown and raised products. Both lunch an dinner menus offer a large number of imaginative items, mainly of American cuisine, with some distinctive touch of southern food. My goal was simple -- just to have some nice dessert in a reputable restaurant, which I also visited before, some time ago. Besides the very exquisitely set and tastefully decorated dining rooms and a very impressive looking bar indoors, Hearth also has a small, but very cozy seating area in front of the restaurant. And this is where I was seated, very quickly and effectively served by Amanda, who was very courteous, attentive and friendly. A large size of good-looking Key Lime Pie quickly turned into some pleasant sweet memories -- it was delicious! I would also like to thank the owner of the restaurant Hugh Higgins, who is always very easy-going and genuinely friendly with the customers of the restaurant. Hearth is located on N Prospect Rd -- a vibrant part of Peoria Heights, that usually attracts the local public and visitors to their customer-friendly, high quality restaurants, boutiques and art galleries. Street parking is available. Restaurant Hearth is the 2016 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award Winner.

Stumbled onto Hearth by accident and am very pleased I did! We sat at the bar and received first class service as well as great suggestions when I asked about items on the menu AWESOME BOURBON selection Reasonable prices and great steak! Thank you for a great dining experience

The food is AMAZING...I'm just not sure it's worth the wait.

After having eaten at Hearth the previous weekend and LOVING the food (veggie burger, chicken salad, sweet potato fries, blackberry balsamic dressing so delicious I wanted to drink it...) my husband and I were very excited to take my mother-in-law. We knew she'd love the chicken salad. The waitress took our order telling us she was trying to get it in ahead of a party of 20 in the back room. We waited for an hour for our food. The waitress was very apologetic and accommodating, but at one point the manager/owner was going from table to table apologizing for the wait and he was immediately defensive when we asked what the issue was and then contradicted us when we said we'd been waiting for our food for an hour. We were extremely upset by this interaction. We almost left when after an hour and ten minutes the waitress told us our order had been lost in the bustle of preparing the meals for the party of 20+ (as well as the other diners), but we decided to stay when she assured us it would only be a matter of minutes before our food was ready. The couple at the table next to us DID get up and leave. Fortunately, the food was DELICIOUS and as expected, my mother-in-law loved the chicken salad and the blackberry balsamic dressing, and said the catfish po' boy was one of the best she'd ever eaten. Honestly, if it hadn't been for the interaction with the manager/owner, we probably would have been assuaged by the superb quality of the food. If we return to Hearth, it will be after some very serious consideration.

Words cannot express the regret I hold in my heart for the absolutely and completely unacceptable way I (the owner) reacted last Saturday. Obviously the frustration I was feeling was not properly contained and spilled out in an incredibly unprofessional way. Just prior to my conversation with you I had a similar conversation with another rightfully unhappy customer. The other customer exclaimed their frustration with waiting an hour for their food and I went to the kitchen immediately to check. The time stamp on their ticket when the food was delivered showed they had indeed been waiting an unacceptable time...41 minutes. 41 minutes is truly way too long. The party of 12 on the other side of the dining room, the 24 in back...and the full patio and other inside diners proved to be overwhelming for us that day when the bulk of orders were received almost simultaneously..even though I added an additional cook that morning in anticipation of the larger groups. That does explain our long ticket time that day...but it DOES NOT excuse my improper and defensive response to your well deserved frustration. Again...my deepest regrets and sincerest apology. I learned a valuable lesson that day...I am sorry it came at your expense.

There are so many things I was pleased about at this restaurant! The atmosphere is really cool and the location is in an up-and-coming area of Peoria Heights. I really liked that I could make a reservation online and that I could take a peek at the menu beforehand on their website. The hostess was very pleasant; however, our waitress really acted like she didn't want to be there. She wasn't upbeat and didn't even look at us when she talked to us or when we ordered/talked to her. I am docking points on my review partly because of her. The presentation of the food was great. You can tell each item had a lot of thought put into it; even the toppings for the burger and the salad. Someone truly put a lot of love into every bit of each item, down to the toppings and garnishes. I had a bite of brisket and it was absolutely stellar. It had a great smoky flavor without being overpowering. It tasted like the bun was freshly baked and buttered. I had a burger and it was kind of dry and didn't "wow" me with flavor. The fries were very good. I would say the overall quality of the food was 4.5/5. But because of the waitress and dry burger I will give 4/5. I would definitely go again and try something other than the burger. I do wish they'd add a few more items to the menu for both lunch and dinner and publish their dessert menu to the website. Like I said, I will definitely go again! Worth trying for sure

Not good this visit. Caesar salad was awful. Do not recommend. Wife and I both ordered grilled chicken breast over tomato purée with green beans and house potatoes. Green beans were really good and potatoes ok but chicken not very good. Chicken seemed pre cooked and nuked. Chicken and purée were luke warm and not tender. If this had been our first visit, we would not return.
