An excellent canalside pub which we have visited many times. The food is tasty and good value and all of the staff are friendly and efficient. They often have music nights with a variety of music - and most importantly there is good beer with usually 3 or 4 cask ales. The bad reviewer on this place must have got... More

Myself and my wife visited here after staying on the nearby Glencote Caravan Park. We were welcomed by friendly staff and were handed an extensive evening menu. The chef recommended a Welsh Tart to us which my wife tried and found to be superb. I had the chicken tikka masala. Again great tasting. The pub has a very locals atmosphere... More

I come here a lot, and can't fault this place. Staff are brilliant, management is professional and fun, the food is of good quality and price regarding it being a traditional pub. There's always an air of friendliness within this place, and you are always made to feel welcome by both the locals and Dan and Jo, the owners. After... More

As a regular of this pub i have more than enough knowledge to tell you to ignore some of the previous reviews and to give this place a go! The Boat has a fantastic family friendly atmosphere that is welcoming and inviting. Yes, this business does have a good party atmosphere where things get very lively... but it remains to... More

I've been going to this pub for nearly 2 years now, and all I can say is that it's changed from a boring pub whereby the previous landlords didn't seem too keen on anything community based, to a pub that loves to throw a good party and support community initiatives. Fundraising for a new defibrillator which is now available at... More

I've been watching this place closely since the current landlords took over and i am very disappointed. The boat Inn is a village pub, a country pub yet it is not being managed in such a way to expect that. The cleanliness is dwindling, slowly becoming dirty and tired, the toilets are a clear example but noticeable in all areas... More

Its sad when something like this happens, when someone that uses the pub comments like this. Especially as you are one of the many that seemingly enjoy our music and party nights, requesting which songs to play next, dancing on the chairs ( we could probably find a photo of you doing this), and you yourself have on more than... Easter weekend two families of nine in total - 5 kids 8 - 14 - sets the scene. Stayed at the local Glencote caravan site. Mixed reviews on this site made us a bit hesitant but I would now suggest that the recent real negative reviews are based on un realistic expectations. The boat is a welcoming and friendly place... My husband, dogs and I called in part-way through a day on the rails at the nearby Steam Railway. The staff was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere great. We both ordered Steak & Guinness Pudding, chips and vegetables and they arrived really quickly. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the speed of service and they were very, very busy it being... More

Hello, thanks for taking the time to give us a review. We're very sorry your chips were undercooked, we were so busy it took us a while to figure out the fryer temperature was turned up a bit too high, hence cooked outside, not on the inside. It shouldn't happen but was just one of those simple things that can... More

We had found out online that the landlord allowed Motorhomes to stay overnight in the car park if you used the pub, we phoned ahead to speak to a very pleasant man who gave us directions. Arrived to find a beautiful setting, pretty pub, canal, river and steam railway all within touching distance. The landlord could not have been more... More

Nice homely style pub, our soup was very good but the kids alternatives were only deep fried stuff. including the sausage which my 5 year old couldn't get through the tough outer skin - they did knock it off the bill to be fair but not what you want really, you prefer your kids to eat well.

Thank you for your review. I would just like to point out the sausage is from a local butchers, a gourmet sausage, and oven cooked, which in fairness does make the skin a little tougher than deep fried. Now, lets look at the other statements here...Not what you really want? You order what you don't want and complain? And you... More
