About

We began serving the Ottawa community in 1975 at the Court Restaurant. In 1998, we moved to our current location and opened the HiWay Restaurant where we continue serving the community. We offer casual-style dining serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a mix of classic comfort food moderately priced. Soups, salads, sandwiches and entrees. Breakfast served anytime. Children and Senior Citizens menu. Beer, wine and cocktails. Daily specials. Carryout and Dine-In. We are conveniently located on US Rt 6 one block west from Rt 23. Just minutes away from Interstate 80 and Starved Rock State Park.

IT IS ALWAYS BUSY.... and thats good

the fact that we can go to eat there and know that we can get our food so fast, it puts the FAST FOOD JOINTS to shame. It really is a great place to eat food that you can enjoy with a knife and fork and a paper napkin. Recommend it very highly.

We found this “gem” of a restaurant!

We found this “gem” of a restaurant on a recent trip west on I-80 in western Illinois (Ottawa). We had driven through the town and spied his very nice, cozy-type Mom and Pop place on Route 6. The menu is vast and ambiance was good. It felt and smelled like your Grandmother’s kitchen. They have many comfort food offerings like chicken, meatloaf, burgers and a few ethnic favorites like cabbage rolls,etc. We hope to return again and recommend it highly!

Everything was great as usual so: "IF IT AIN'T BROKE.. DON'T FIX IT" Sometimes things are better left alone. Time honord traditions are important and are best as is. Our trips to HiWay are intentional and are done because we know what we will get when we sit down.

Very extensive menu with daily dinner specials. Large portions of food and reasonable prices. We had fish dinner and pork roast dinner and were quite happy with it. Dinner specials come with dessert included and $1.75 glass of wine. Our server was friendly and service was quick.

Had to go looking for this restaurant off of I-80 East, but worth it. Family atmosphere with happy staff and many dishes to choose from. There is something for everyone's taste buds. Stopped mid afternoon and was able to order breakfast. Enjoyed everything.

Full menu (something for everyone). Breakfasts are great. Huge omelets and skillets. Great service, coffee is great. Prices are good. Friendly staff. I'll go back here when I'm in the area again.

I have met a Chicago business friend here 2-3 times in the last year as it is about halfway from Peoria. Friendly folks, very good service and the breakfast menu has been pretty good.

no matter what time church gets out (thanks to covid) we go to HiWay...usually busy at that time, but we wait for a table for 6, at least.

Great food great COVID-19 effort

After leaving another restaurant because of their poor practices we drove here, lots of outside seating lots of space inside seating, everyone except the owner had a mask. they were very accommodating we were very appreciative and we enjoyed the food.

Don't let the COVID-19 blues get you down. We started a new trend at HiWay Restaurant. Its called HIWAY WEDNESDAY. So every Wednesday and maybe saturday too sometimes, we order carry out. Even though we cant go and sit and relax and chat and eat, we can go get something, take it home, and eat and chat. Remember these people have been serving our community for a long time, and we need to make sure that in a few months we can go sit down, eat and enjoy ourselves. If they close their doors, we cant do the things we love to do, so......SAY COVID-19. TAKE THAT, YOU CANT STOP ME FROM GOING TO MY HIWAY WEDNESDAY.

As I was sitting in the Java Junction area of church today I caught myself repeating to the Pastor my verbiage to tell the server at the Hi Way. 3 eggs poched hard, hash browns, sausage patty, and sourdough toast buttered. we already knew we were headed for breakfast after church as we always do. and have yet to be disappointed. We wish those at the Hiway a very Merry Christmas.

One of the area's best bargains!

There were five of us and we were given a very nice welcome and the food was delivered in very short time. A great family restaurant with an excellent menu with a 'senior citizen' option with very good prices!
