My most recent visit was July 2016 and I have been here many times over a period of four years. Expect to pay a lot unless you are sharing entrees. Shrimp and the many varieties of oysters are quite fresh. Breakfast skillet was 'meh'. Service can vary, but is generally attentive.

My wife ordered "tail-on" shrimp. It was shell-on-the-whole-shrimp. When she cut into it, the red sauce went flying. And it was overcooked. When we told the waiter, he just shrugged his shoulders and did nothing. (My LobsterMac was good.) We had been forewarned when we scheduled a tour in town. Ignored the advice since we were staying in the hotel.... More

The atmosphere and service are good. The food is average but it is still good to nibble on appetizers, breakfast and lunch. It has a local feeling which I like.

An Oak Park's first sports bar, Poor Phil's is the "Cheers" bar of the neighborhood. Since bars are not allowed in Oak Park, this one serves pub grub, with seafood and raw bar items. Some interesting menu items, cocktails, and desserts. Outdoor seating draws capacity crowds in nice weather. Price point has always been high, for what you get.

Poor Phil's has a nice outdoor seating area and casual atmosphere, but the food is average at best. The wait staff can be lacking in customer attention. The beer selection is nice, but overall it's not really the best. We live down the street, and after a while you notice the lack of quality and service.

Visited with family last weekend , and we had a tremendous server, and the fish tacos and oysters were outstanding. We will be back. Thank you..

Quick & friendly service in a crowded bar. thanks, Kim. If you can't find a beer (or 2) that you like here, you are impossible to please. Excellent mixed drinks. Seafood centric menus is a step above most bar food.

This place has the blue crab in June! They have a bazillion beers on tap also. It can get a bit pricy but the atmosphere is amazing and they have outdoor dining

Poor Phil's is a great bar. They have an amazing beer selection (over 100) and very good food. Great for dinner, patio eating or watching a sports game. Everyone should go!! And right next to the train.

Poor Phil's offers other meals but we only dined for breakfast. Their Benedict offerings (either whole or half) are great: spinach or pork sausage topped with poached eggs and a great Benedict sauce.
