We've been going to Poor Phil's for years now. I really can't think of a more delightful place to eat especially during the summer months when you can sit outdoors. Their food is always excellent and the service is quick and friendly. If you go to Oak Park, go to Poor Phil's which is named after a , (deceased), local... More

We were staying at the Carlton, so Poor Phils was a great place to meet for drinks, as it is just on the corner of the Carlton Hotel complex. We enjoyed attentive, friendly service and had absolutely no complaints! The weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed a table outdoors together. This was a wonderful spot for a fun, casual evening... Impressed with Poor Phil's menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the quality and taste of the food is excellent! Great choice of seafood and beers, and the red beans and rice is tasty! Great Service!

If you like a lot of choices, this is your place. I received 3 menus when I sat down. 6-page food menu, that also had an insert, special menu and drink menu. The font is a little tough to read so it took me awhile to get through everything. Wide selection of craft beers. Service was good. Outside seating was... More

My most recent visit was July 2016 and I have been here many times over a period of four years. Expect to pay a lot unless you are sharing entrees. Shrimp and the many varieties of oysters are quite fresh. Breakfast skillet was 'meh'. Service can vary, but is generally attentive.

My wife ordered "tail-on" shrimp. It was shell-on-the-whole-shrimp. When she cut into it, the red sauce went flying. And it was overcooked. When we told the waiter, he just shrugged his shoulders and did nothing. (My LobsterMac was good.) We had been forewarned when we scheduled a tour in town. Ignored the advice since we were staying in the hotel.... More

The atmosphere and service are good. The food is average but it is still good to nibble on appetizers, breakfast and lunch. It has a local feeling which I like.

An Oak Park's first sports bar, Poor Phil's is the "Cheers" bar of the neighborhood. Since bars are not allowed in Oak Park, this one serves pub grub, with seafood and raw bar items. Some interesting menu items, cocktails, and desserts. Outdoor seating draws capacity crowds in nice weather. Price point has always been high, for what you get.

Poor Phil's has a nice outdoor seating area and casual atmosphere, but the food is average at best. The wait staff can be lacking in customer attention. The beer selection is nice, but overall it's not really the best. We live down the street, and after a while you notice the lack of quality and service.

Visited with family last weekend , and we had a tremendous server, and the fish tacos and oysters were outstanding. We will be back. Thank you..
