This is the most inventive, updated yet authentic Mexican cuisine you will find in the area, in an intimate setting with warm attentive wait staff and the delightful oversight of Chef Paco. We've been enjoying Chef Paco's cuisine for over 20 years and have had the pleasure of experiencing the evolution of his cooking through the decades. The tamarind and... More

We'd had a nice family dinner here a few months earlier, and had a nice time. I didn't remember the food being notably awesome or awful, so when we were struck with a taste for tacos my husband and I headed over fairly late on a Saturday night. We paid $16 & $18 for two plates, three tacos each, of... More

You must go here just to have the owner describe the specials! Oh My God!!!! The menu is created with passion. He is so fun and nice. I don't always like the specials as described or am a little leary about trying them, but my husband (who doesn't try anything new) always tries whatever the owner shows us, and it's... More

We decided to give New Rebozo a chance with a a couple from out of town and discovered a pretty nice place. The owner comes out and goes over the specials with an iPad, and the ladies were captivated. The food was fantastic. I knew we were in for a treat when we tried the salsa, which was incredible. The... More

We had seen a review of New Rebozo on Chicago's Best and were eager to try it, but cautious in our expectations. We were delighted by our experience. It's not often that a restaurant is better than expectations, but that was the case for our lunch at New Rebozo. My wife and I both highly recommend this place. We started... More

We ate there under duress, as there's virtually not another choice in this food desert, and we were from out of town, catching a show nearby, and somewhat desperate. Mildly overpriced, super precious foodie menu, too loud non Mexican music, Chef Paco has to come around personally to tell you the specials for the night, which definitely slowed down the... More

We, a party of four, arrived less than an hour before closing time. We were not rushed and only realized after we ate that we were the only ones in the restaurant. The owner/chef came to our table a few times to see how we were doing. Food was very good and cocktails were too.

I have been here on and off over a number of years. My experience is always the same.. wonderful. The owner always comes to great you and has so much sincere warmth and charm. The food is so tasty. It's a bit more upscale than your average taco shop but it's not overly expensive. The moles are fantastic, and there... More

Chef Paco, who is always on site, whips up the most amazing gourmet Mexican meals. Personally I am addicted to the Fiesta Mole, which is an array of 10 to 12 mole sauces over the filling of your choosing. Who knew so many options were available? When pomegranates are in season, the special stuffed pepper with pomegranates is fabulous. In... More

Have been dining here since it opened over 20 years ago when it was El Rebozo, Paco was a waiter, and there were cut out hanging placemat decorations. It started out an inexpensive Mexican restaurante tipica, a welcome addition to the others in Oak Park, (Salvatore's, Las Fuentes, Lalo's and La Majada--all closed now) where we went for $5 burrito... Francisco Lopez, known as Chef Paco, of New Rebozo started in Oak Park. He is eccentric, fun, enthusiastic about food and the most welcoming person you will ever come to meet. Paco is the Chef/Owner of one of The Best Authentic Mexican Restaurants in the Chicago land area as voted by the Mexican government, an honor many patrons agree with. To ensure a healthier menu and contradictory to many Mexican restaurants. Paco's specials are always innovative with traditional roots and seasonal ingredients. Over the years, New Rebozo has been given awards for its authenticity and just downright great food. The passion and love that comes through every member of the New Rebozo staff is intoxicating and will bring you back time and time again.
