An hour walk from Planica in a lovely valley, they offer a relatively broad selection of meals and drinks. A great half-day trip or a base for longer hikes!

We were just visiting on the last day of 2019, the place was so crowded we werent able to order food which seemed overall good and we were hungry anyway. We ordered mulled vine and tea which was ok and we were able to order...at the outside stand. When we tried to warm up with food, the place at the bar where waitress was collecting orders was so stuffed, the waiter was yelling at me everytime he passed MOVE AWAY, which didn’t seem quite proper despite the fact that we were in a “fast local food” cottage and not at the restaurant. Also every guest who tried to order and came after me was able to order a meal (behind bar) and I was left unserved. We decided to left for other restaurant (Martin) which I also regret considering the rudeness of their waitresses. Koča v Tamarju is a nice place to finish the walk and also to meet fellow walkers. Also dogs 😀Since there was some snow many families decided to take sleigh for the way which seemed a nice idea.More

Very nice walk, Big guesthouse, nice view. But that was ALL. Food was average or worst. Did not dare to order cakes. Maybe IT was due to our late arrival, but still...

After all day of hiking we stopped in this location. Service was good, more than expected. Food delicious and price was normal. There is also playground for kids. Recommend the location.

We went on a hike from Planica, it took approx an hour - the hiking path (right part of the valley) is full of different info boards. Great for families with small children. At Dom v Tamarju you cat eat a lot of trad. slovenian...dishes, also some seasonal fruit and vegetables, drink 'alpine' tea with honey... There are also nice and clean toilets.More

The walk to the restaurant is very pleasant with great views. There is a road option which is a little longer, but the walk through the forest is by far the better! The walks go on from the restaurant through the forest and up into...the mountains. It is a beautiful spot and the food and drinks good! They serve dinner, but you cannot drive there so not so easy with earlier sunsets!More

This is my favorite walk - cca. 1 hour from Rateče thru the forest when we are in Kr.Gora. It's a nice way and offers beautiful views to the Alps! The hut offers homemade tea and štruklji!

If you are in Kranjska gora or nearby and you like to do a nice pleasant easy walk than you must go to Tamar. In village Rateče from Kranjska gora site you must turn left to Tamar or Planica, where in Slovenia have world Cup...Ski Jumpings. In the morning you will pay 2 eur for praking for whole day. At the end of the road you must go by foot around 40-50 min easy walk and you will come in Tamar where you will find a small mountain cottage where you can drink and eat. The prices are fair enough, the quality is good. Their phone nr. +38645876055 and +38641378077. I recommend.More

This Dom is a must every time we come to Kranjska Gora. It is in a stunning setting, surrounded by trees and mountains, with a lovely little Chapel in the grounds as well. Just sitting outside having a leisurely lunch puts on in the holiday...mood. It is a good three hour walk from Kranjska Gora, but well worth it. Also interesting to stop at hte Planica ski jumps on the way up.More

We had a nice hike through forest from Pokljuka. Amazing mountains all around and there are little waterfalls nearby. Amazing nature and landscape. We had a dessert - mix of cottage cheese/buckwheat/blueberry rolled dumplings (struklji) and there were delicious! Also friendly staff and local vibe....Loved it!More

A beautiful walk (3.2 km) from jumping centrum Planica through the valley of Tamar ended this time in front of this great mountain lodge. Nature has taken care of magical scenes. Frost crystals, the magnificent peaks with of the King of Jalovec in the front......About the lodge- always friendly staff and great food (especially sirove štruklje). Should be visited.More

Well, the weather didn't let us do hiking to higher routes so we went to this trail. the path goes through the forest so you can hardly see the view. It was easy nice walk 45-60min from the car Park till Tamar's hut. At the...Hut we ate. Refreshing soup. Next to the Hut there is a nice waterfall. The Hut is between few mountain peaks, that we couldn't see due bad whether. On the way back near the car park we saw people training on ski jumping - that was nice. Good and easy hike, probably batter in a clear day.More
