We are still getting curbside pickup and Andy takes great care of us for our Tapas Gitana orders! We surprised our daughter and family with a wonderful tapas array! We enjoyed the grilled calamari, the grilled shrimp with garlic and Chili pepper, the garlic potato...salad, the grilled eggplant with goat cheese, the stuffed mushrooms, queso de cabra, and the lamb confit! The four of us enjoyed them for two nights!! They served as appetizers the second night! Everything was so fresh! They also have inside and outside limited dining! We are never disappointed!!More

This is one of our favorite places to eat out in our nearby Northshore suburbs, and definitely favorite Tapas place in the suburbs. We've been frequenting it for 10+ years, and would like to support it now, during pandemics. Thankfully, it is easy to do,...as Tapas Gitana expanded their outside terrace, so it is plenty of space, with social distancing. Atmosphere inside is cozy and pleasant, and we will be back there, when the "new reality" allows. Friendly service, good and varied selection of cold and hot tapas, decent selection of (mostly) Spanish wines, sangria too. There are good meat based tapas, but if you are vegetarian or vegan, there are options there too. We celebrated many happy occasions there, and hope to continue going there for years to come!More

It's so fun to come here and dine outside while sharing small plates together. The olives have the best brine, the goat cheese in tomato sauce has the best bread to dip in....and all the food is great. Is there new management, though? We miss...the Tuna Canneloni and other things have been taken off the menu. Sad.More

I would like to mention to begin with that these are trying time for all restaurants, and my party and I completely understand this. However, as we tried to help local businesses re-open by patronizing their restaurants, there is a level of customer service that...should be expected. It bean to rain during our dining time and NO ONE at the restaurant tried to help with patio umbrellas (since it was far away) or came out with "to-go" boxes. We asked our server to help with the umbrella and he stated he would - then never came back. By the time other patrons began to to fend for themselves too, it was raining pretty hard. We tried to move our table to an area under an overhang and the manager (owner's wife) stated we were not allowed to do this. At the same time, again, no one was offering to help in anyway or bring us boxes to put away our food. We finally requested our bill and paid with a 20% tip. The next day, my friend called to speak to the owner to suggest how he could help patrons if this should happen again, and he began to yell at her. I have been dining here for about 20 years and was appalled at the disrespect toward someone who was just trying to offer helpful advice. BTW - the food definitely has declined over the years - very disappointing. Unfortunately, I will never be going back due to all of these things.More

We just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Tapas Gitana. As always the food was absolutely wonderful. But what impressed us the most was the safety and health precautions taken. The tables are well spread out, the servers wear Masks, the entire experience was excellent...non-awkward and warm. Alberto our server was excellent, as always!! Thank you Tapas Gitana for a great safe experience.More

This visit was actually the second time we'd been to Tapas Gitana. We are in the area a lot as one of our favorite bakeries - Three Tarts - and one of our favorite taco joints - Taco Nano - are on the East side...of Happ Rd., and someone once suggested that we try dining outdoors on Tapas Gitana's patio, which we did a couple of Summer's ago (with fond memories, if I recall). This visit was more-intentional, as we were longing for Tapas after sharing memories of this style of food enjoyed at our favorite tapas bars back in Portland (Ataula and Toro Bravo - yum!), and this time we'd be eating inside as it was early February and not-so-nice outside. Arriving (without reservations) around 7pm on a Saturday night, we found the place about half-full, so we were able to get seated right away in one of the restaurant's several dining areas. Both the owner and her service staff were ready and willing to help select a nice mix of dishes - enough to keep us busy and our taste buds hopping. We enjoyed the following items - Boquerones ($8), which are white anchovies served on top of an avocado/tomato salsa (awesome); Tortilla Espanola, an omelet with peppers and cheese ($7); Acachofas Fritas ($8.50), which are fried artichoke hearts served with a garlic aoli (just perfect); a tasty Pimiento Piquillo dish ($9) and then three heartier dishes - Pulpo Ala Gallega ($10.50) - marinated and grilled octopus served with potatos and herbs; Vieiras Gitanas ($12) - grilled sea scallops on cous cous (wow) and Nido de Cordero ($11.50), an impressive dish with lamb, potato, onions and an herb aoli that made my wife very happy. We washed it all down with a nice bottle of Xilcoa (a red Spanish garnacha-based wine that went very nicely with everything we ate) and so, for around $100 (inc tax, not the tip), we found ourselves realizing that we could enjoy a fine meal indoors here as well (although, we'll be back to eat outside once we can). Well worth the trip to Northfield!More

I frequently dine at Tapas Gitana and always enjoy the outstanding food, warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Chef Andrew Novak offers a creative and varied menu, great for sharing. I have my usual favorites but try something new on each visit - and often get...new favorites as a result. We love sharing bacon-wrapped dates, baked goat cheese, empanada, salmon al horno, tiger shrimp, albondigas (meatballs), tortilla and calamari. Tapas Gitana is fine dining at reasonable prices.More

Tapas Gitana is almost hidden just off the Edens and Willow Road but it’s worth finding. We went on a cold, snowy night when not a lot of people were out so the restaurant was not crowded. We were seated quickly with drink orders taken...promptly. We tried a variety of the wonderful tapas options and enjoyed them all. Among our favorites were the pork medallions, crepes with spinach and apples, baked goat cheese and beef skewers. Our server timed the delivery of the various plates so we always had food with plenty of time to savor each option. Tables are not crowded and the restaurant was very conversation friendly when we were there. Though we have lived in the area quite awhile, we had not discovered Tapas Gitana. We will return!More

WOW! WHAT A MAGNIFICENT MEAL We recently paid a visit to Tapas Gitana and I am so glad we did. We devoured Chef Andy's bacon-wrapped dates, fried artichoke hearts, baked goat cheese, grilled tiger shrimps, beef tenderloin skewers and grilled octopus…and I was in heaven....A pitcher of red sangria was the perfect beverage to accompany our selection of tapas. We topped off the meal with two desserts; all of the house-made desserts sounded amazing and it was hard to choose. We settled on profiteroles and crema catalana, which were glorious, better than I could imagine. I am now hooked on Spanish cuisine and am a huge fan of Tapas Gitana. The entire experience was "Magnifico.”More

When my daughter asked if I had an idea for my Birthday. I mentioned the Tapas Place near her home and she said Oh that is Tapas Gitana. They made me feel so special and the food was Fabulous. We were 10 and the table...was comfortable and we were surrounded by such nice folks. There was a table of Soldiers and my Grandson gravitated there and was welcomed so warmly. The food was so good, the best ever and so varied and served ever so nicely. We tried so many dished and shared so everyone was able to taste and then order again so that we just savored and grazed. I will be back soonMore
