The food and service was very good. It is small, crowded and noisy but most definitely an old Italian feel. I don't know that I would go again, but did enjoy the experience.

Terrible experience. I think you have to be Italian or part of the "family" to get a seat. We waited one hour to be seated and we were promised a table. Then.... "Friends" came in. We were asked if we would want to eat outside. We said no since we were waiting for the indoor table that we were promised.... More

Visiting with relatives and we had dinner here. We all had different dinners. I ate black linguine with mussels and clams which was fabulous. Our service was Excellent. The restaurant Is small but has great character. Very popular restaurant and they served us drinks while waiting. I am From out of town but I would definitely eat here again if... More

Home made italian cooking. Absolutely great. My mouth waters at the thought of going there. Every dish us excellent followed by excellent service. The only down side is you usually have to wait to get in. Just go and see for yourself!

Man oh man, what a great find in the Chicago suburbs. Visiting for business and had dinner at Francesco's and so glad I did. Small restaurant with tables very close together, so be prepared for a vibrant scene. Outstanding service to match outstanding food. The Osso Bucco was perhaps the best I ever had. Good wine list. Highly recommended if... More

This local spot is easy to bypass, but well worth finding. It doesn't take reservations, so be prepared to wait - because it really is a hole-in-the-wall-sized place, with tables almost on top of each other and servers squeezing between patrons. The menu is different every day, written on the end wall; look for traditional Italian gems (like gnocchi) as... More

The Francesca's location is definitely a hole in the wall but the food is amazing as always. Reminds me of the Bryn Mahr location in terms of food quality. Great orchiette marinara.

Because there were only 2 of us, we were seated in about 5-7 minutes on a Friday night st 7:30. I used to come here years ago, put our name in, go home, and come back an hour later. Then our table would be ready with a very short wait. What's so bad about reservations? The place is tiny but... More

This long-time Northbrook landmark restaurant has been around forever. After 40 years, it's still tough to get in on weekends. Menu, food and service are all top notch. But the management is aloof and indifferent.

Hole in the Wall offers excellent food - the menu, written on a board located on a main wall in the restaurant, includes fish, meat and pasta dishes. The Hole in the Wall salad is a must-starter! Warm bread served with the meal. The staff is friendly, and the owner is there every, or almost, every night checking in with... More
