Some friends and I visited Allgauer's for brunch. There is an omelette station, seafood, pasta, salads, etc. The omelette station only had a few basic options such as onions, mushrooms, etc. The other breakfast options were bacon, sausage, French toast, diced potatoes, and Eggs Benedict. The bacon and sausage were piled in a big greasy heap. The French roast was... More

We were invited for a wedding and the reception was at Allgauers. We had tomato soup which was awful then salad was ok and then the main meal steak with potatoe and vegetables. The steak was so tough you could not even chew it. They also expected us to cut the steak with butter knives. At home we made fries... More

I do not know why but the bar is full of divorced woman. It is a great place to pick up a lady and become friends with. The bar is friendly and people are very open with each other. Much better for a more mature crowd than Rush Street is.

We visited Allquaer"s again after a pleasant visit last year. It was a Saturday nite and there was little parking available due to a wedding. This time we were very disappointed. The service was terrible, very slow and accommodating. They appeared very understaffed. The food was adequate at best. Our party of 6 ordered lamb, steak, fish and chips, scallops,... More

We go to Allgauers about once every few weeks. It's a very pretty restaurant and you can request to sit by the window which overlooks the Des Plaines River. They light it up so it's very attractive, especially in the summer. Their house salads are presented so uniquely. They use the peel of a cucumber to wrap around the greens... More

We had not been to Allgauers in 15 years. Decided to have dinner here on Friday night with our 3 adult children and their wives/husband. They offer on Fridays a seafood/Prime Rib buffet. Not a big fan of buffets I reluctantly made the reservation and hoped for the best. The food was delicious, fresh and an amazing variety. Oysters on... More

Our waiter was professional but aloof, the room was echoing and dim and since almost empty on a Thursday night, on the depressing side of quiet. The prices were high but the food not worth the money; the menu promised creativity while the food was run-of-the-mill. For guests staying at the hotel, the frozen meals behind reception are just as... More

I am staying in the Hilton, and I have went to the bar 3 nights because convenience. The service is horrendous, their organization is horrid, and their shear lack of knowledge of a bar is quite apparent. Not a great experience, no plans on going back.

But you probably won't look forward to it. I got a ribeye (medium rare) and baked potato. It would have been an OKAY steak if I'd been at Golden Corral. For $42 (the special says 19.99 but that's for the chicken) it was not good at all. Service was okay - couldn't manage to get a beer list to save... More

I took my wife there for a romantic dinner as we first visited Allgauers when we were newlyweds. It was not the same fine dinning we remembered. There were eight people seated in the dinning room; including a family of six. My steak was not the prime rare beef it should have been. Choice maybe and the chef must have... More
